Got a 6 mile ride in this afternoon ahead of a cold front that’s coming. Sunny, 80° and no wind. Just a nice day to ride around the lake.

The wife and I usually don't like to ride on Saturdays (traffic), but decided to go ahead this morning due to the weather change happening tomorrow as mentioned by Pepperbelly. We got out for 14 miles.

After a little research using AI, I have to admit I was wrong. It's not in the maple family but is in the Dogwood family. Specifically 'Corna Kousa' based on leaf shape and color. It really stands out in this background. :)

I’m still planning to ride my road bike until it snows this year. I took the last two days off due to rain, and I was going to ride today. But the temperature is not going to get out of the low 30’s. When the temps are that low black ice is a real threat. You never know where it will appear. I recall as a runner I would put Vaseline on my face to guard against frostbite, but that was when temps got very low. With the wind 30 degrees is uncomfortable on the face. So, I will take another day off. My weight is not moving and that is good. I have lots of cold weather gear, some of which I bought 40 years ago. It still works great though I did buy some fantastic new over-boots that keep my feet warm. I got this light ski vest at Walmart that I wear under a heavy cycling jacket I bought 20 years ago. If you pay the money, the gear will last. It is going back to the 40’s tomorrow and I will be out there.

Same but different, reverse direction on most of the fast downhills but then also down the same. Had to get in a ride before the rains come! had a goal for 1500ft...made it.

Foster City to SFO Airport and back. We rode the paved trails due to recent two days of rain dumping on the trails.
First time riding in this area. Fun route! About 17 riders total. Also saw very cool sound art sculpture, by Bill + Mary Buchen, at Seal Point Shoreline Park in San Mateo. This is one of a few sound sculptures, not enough wind for the others. Our turnaround point was looking across the Bay marsh watching the jets depart. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...96991d2b72.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...ac46ff25f0.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...2e2d1003f.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...c52208bac.jpeg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...61a1d0d9c.jpeg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...cd85980ab7.jpg |

Pretty good route but a bit too flat for me nowadays. Did you clap or make noise between those "discs"? I used to do it every time I stopped there. lol

It was all new to me – never rode a single inch of it before. It would not be my selection, but decided to try the group ride thing and this was it. Yes along the Bay will always be flat. The SF Bay Trail in Mt. View is even flatter! I will get my elevation on other future rides, I do like to climb a bit.I only spoke a few words into the dish sculpture, I just listened to many others go through.

Short spin before church. I have a couple of little issues on a bike I bought recently that I'm working out. I want to use that bike in a couple of weeks for my ride my age ride.

We had a weekend in the 70's here so I got in 52 miles on Friday and Saturday. A treat this time of year between the cold and the dark. Started doing my winter program on the stationary and bike trainer. Yay team.

13 Miles today. Great ride. I have decided the seat I'm going to be in is the Brooks 67. Pretty comfortable today, I've ridden about 2 weeks on it now. Treating it with saddle soap and their Proofide product. Breaking in nicely.

Yes. Today I rode 26 miles, yesterday 22 miles and Monday 31 miles. About to reach my weekly goal of 100 miles.

I was able to get out and ride 12.5 miles on the bike path. The weather was pleasant with temps in the mid 40’s and sunny with little wind.

Every year I take a bike to Tulsa to ride my age. I like to hit some nice place for lunch and a beer and the MUP along the river makes it easy. But it turned into a disaster. We were supposed to sign some papers today after 11:00 but we wound up doing that last night. So I decided to go do my ride my age ride this year a week early because our nice weather is going to go away. My wife decided there was something else she could occupy my time with, so I changed my plans to not drive to where I wanted to go and ride locally instead. I rode through a rough area and had a pit bull encounter. When I got out in the country, at the top of a long climb in geezer gear, I was challenged by another dog, Fortunately the descent got me to 37 mph without even trying on my old Takara with cheap Kenda tires and the dog wasn't interested in keeping up with that. Then I took the county roads to a small town that has a bajillion antique stores thinking that somewhere among them would be a place to get lunch. There is a small brewery there, but they would not be open for another 4 hours. I wound up getting a slice of gas station pizza, a Gatorade and a 16 ounce can of IPA for 12 bucks. Then, my wife moved up the meeting she had set up for us by an hour and a half. I got 40 miles done and decided I would get the other 21 after the meeting. But my wife had three new laptops for me to setup for a project she is working on so that happened.
I'll either try Monday if it is still halfway decent or get cold and wet on my actual birthday. The only positive things are I at least got a ride in, the descent was fun on the old bike, the IPA was tasty, and if I wanted, I could say I did it in kilometers. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...2f7de706c2.jpg |
The wife and I got out for a 14 mile ride this morning.
First ride in a while due to weather and my health issues. Felt great to be active again. |

Nice day here yesterday. Got in 20 miles of gravel on the Mtn Bike. Takes a lot more out of me than the road bike. Might be last outdoor ride for a while. |
27.72 miles worth of riding around doing errands for the BOSS LADY.
|
Rode a 6 mile loop around the lake. It wax a perfect day to ride- 67°, sunshine and very little wind.

I rode a new route and trail with a friend who is a local to that area to get to Calero Park, 50% paved, 50% dirt/gravel. 27 miles, 1,330ft. on my XC MTB. Through a nice and muddy cattle stile on the trail. Dirt is nice and slightly damp, not like the loose dust the last time I was there.
