[I posted on Sunday but BF went down, I guess during the process.]
Sat was my last ride... John Nicholas Trail. It was a slow ride....I started at a different spot for this JNT ride, yet again. The Sanborn Road gate for the Lake Ranch Trail. That trail starts at 13% grade, then reaches 22% midway. I did a bike of hike-a-bike for the just over half mile access road. THEREFORE... I do not recommend this trailhead for non-eMTBers or fit climbers.

Overall I climbed slowly but descended faster than usual ( I am still slow). It was lots of fun!!
Very stoked I cleared one tough climb in the Intestine segment that I have never cleared before without no foot down, doesn't matter. really can't restart. was probably my 4th attempt in that many rides. Before I attempted it, I stopped, took a break, walked it. Then as I was walking back an eMTB went up easily of course. But slowly.

I was out early this morning. I left the house at 6:15 am before the heat of the day came up. Also we are having alot of haze due to the wildfires from Canada. But I got 17 miles and none of them on the rail trail.

I ordered my new bike the Liv devote advanced 2 it should be in to the bike shop in a few weeks. It seems I will have it after I come back from MI. Which has alot of gravel roads. That bike is perfect for MI.

I try to set aside time for trips every day. Today, my friend and I spent two hours riding around her hometown. I am trying to be more active now, I even found where to Buy Mounjaro Online, and I don't forget about proper nutrition.

I actually have a bike that would handle gravel- my old Gary Fisher NAPA.
Right now I have 25mm tires on my ‘15 Spec Roubaix. I have had 28mm on it but I’m not sure if 30mm would fit. That would give me a great rode if they did. I have 25s on now since that was the only size my lbs had in stock and I was desperate for tires.

BITD I rode 20’s and 23’s - but I have not ridden 25’s for a few years and that was just a short solo ride

the smallest tires I ride now on one bike are 32’s - after trying 28’s for a few rides … that bike is used only on paved surfaces

but I do see a large number of bikes with 28’s and similar - including on the crushed limestone paths …

it has become more common for bikers to do the 150 mile GAP in one day … one guy did the GAP in one day on 28’s - and that included a long stretch in heavy rain and thunderstorms … yikes … I don’t know how he averaged 15 mph in those conditions (and on 28’s) … he was hitting 20-24 mph for a stretch while he paced behind an e-bike - but that was before the storms

It’s hot here is North Texas too, with poor air quality today.
I will be indoors at my gym on a stationary bike with ac and big screen tvs tuned to ESPN and Chive TV.

Another early day out riding. I left the house at 6:30 am and rode for 20 miles. The temp was 52 f degrees when I left the house so very pleasant riding weather except for the haze(from the wildfires in Canada).

Hidden Falls and the sheep are out.

Lovely cool morning, so even though I slept late I decided to ride out to Salty Bottom. About 5 miles to get out of town, 10 miles to get back into town, and the other 15 miles pleasant rural riding.

There's a nasty steep hill near the turn-around, but it was blocked by three utilities trucks staggered across the road. So I took the long way. About half a mile from the Other Turn-around, there was something sitting in the middle of the road. As I got closer, it looked like a canine, and I considered going back the way I came -- it looked like a little dog, but if it was crazy enough to sit on the yellow line, might it be crazy enough to bite me? About 100 yards away, it hit me -- red fox sitting up there! Unfortunately for my wildlife viewing, that's about the time it saw me, and got antsy, and pretty soon it was trotting off to the trees lining the nearby driveway.

Most of the (light) traffic was well-behaved. Fits with my theory that people who know they live out in the country understand that they can't make 15 miles into town in 12 minutes, unlike surburbanites who think they should be 7 minutes away even though they moved 25 miles out of town a few years back.

Cornbiker 08-06-25 09:02 PM

Rode 26 miles with the club today, about half in pouring rain. I got one of my better times for 40k.

essiemyra 08-07-25 07:35 PM

I did get out and ride this evening at 6:05pm. The bike store notified me my bike came in and it was on the build schedule for today. So when it was done I went and picked it up. I rode my new bike for 11.5 miles on the bike path. It was a pleasure to ride my new bike. It moves.

Summer has finally arrived in the Bay Area. So this morning was a steel kind of ride.

2cam16 Nice and clear for the morning at Crystal Springs! I wish I was a morning person, but also work. I was as the south end last night for a quick 15 mile Cañada Rd road ride. Very windy of course.

I got out this morning at 6:30 am and rode the new bike for 15 miles. I was out climbing hills to see how well I would do with the new lower gearing. And it went well. I need to get a new light for the front and back of the bike.

Always thankful to post this thread

Have been riding casually but may up the mileage and pretend to be training for an event. That usually means fewer stops for pics but here are a few.

Congratulations on the new ride! If you ask really nicely, I'm sure there are a lot of riders here that will give you real world suggestions for lights :)

24.4 miles in high 80's-low 90s temp, high humidity, highish-wind (10-20 mph). No energy, no snap, not a lot of fun. To top it off, I forgot that I had signed up for a Garmin-or-something challenge to do a 40 KM ride this weekend, and finished just a little short. Sunday looks like a good day, though, so I have a reasonable hope of an enjoyable ride longer than 40 KM.

Thanks for your post and the pics!

My dad used to take me fishing along the Hennepin when I was a mere sprat. I visited a few accessible portions when I was in college back in the late '60's.

Your pics bring back many memories of days gone by, long time ago.
