I was out this morning and found 19.5 miles for riding. I thought I was going to ride to the senior center that is why the short miles this morning, but at the very last moment I had a change of plans and took my motor vehicle( not as pleasant as a bike). Oh well

I've been piddlin' 'round with this old beater build for a while and yesterday I thought I better get busy and finish it. Two test rides resulted in two flats less than a mile from the house and a rear derailleur spring that decided it didn't like its job.
Today, the third time was the charm. No flats, no derailleur misbehavior. A test ride on these old builds is not considered a pass until it makes it to a nearby Duck Pond. Too bad someone abused this bike. I imagine it was a nice bike in its day because it rides pretty darn good now. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...950561f4c.jpeg |
Got out for an early ride this morning at 7:30 AM and covered 24.2 miles. The weather was perfect and the ride felt great from start to finish.
I’ll be heading back north on Tuesday, so these longer rides will be on pause for a bit—but I’m glad I made the most of it while I could. |
Woo hoo! Thirty minutes on the trainer (Zwift) after 2 months off due to surgery. I still shouldn't be putting weight on the repaired shoulder and didn't realize how hard one handed cycling (even on a trainer) would be. Better than nothing I reckon and it shouldn't be too long before I am given the OK to use the one on the mend.

Yesterday, I showed a friend my local roads and sites around Woodside. I got in 33 miles. mellow pace on a beautiful, warm 80° day.

Took a lap around my local lake. 80° and a little windy-17mph. I love the smell of spring.

Got out at 1:41am for an easy-peasy 13.31 miles at 12.1 mph average and 15.1 mph max with 69 ℉ temp and 11.9mph winds

Yup, had a good ride today and surprised myself with my watts and average speed. Also had a surprise critter sighting.

With limited time this morning, I took a short spin to the duck pond. The temperature was over 60 and below 70, perfect. A light drizzle kept everyone away, so I had the whole park to myself to ride the rain soaked, mud covered, goose poop slicked paths as fast as I felt comfortable with keeping in mind I bruise easy and heal slow.
The more I ride this bike the more I like it. That is almost as risky as the slick path around the pond. I keep thinking about having the bike repainted or powder coated even though the job would cost more than the bike is worth. I still think it would make me happy, and that could tip the benefit cost analysis toward a refinish. But I'm also cheap so there's that. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...081a707f8.jpeg |
Finally did a 4-hour ride after cutting short my last 3 or 4 attempts. I did it by riding to a 2-hour+ club ride that was about an hour ride from my house so the only way to get home was to ride :).
About an hour into the club ride, I had the weirdest mechanical issue. The bolt holding the guide pulley in the rear derailer had come loose and the chain no longer wrapped around that pulley and became very slack. Luckily no parts were lost and I was able to reassemble everything and complete the ride. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...2240e5e210.jpg I passed these swans as I left for home from the park where the club ride started/ended. As I pulled up to them, they were napping and had their bills tucked in their wings. But me stopping for a snap woke them up. |
Around 24 miles on the Merckx Corsa 01 this morning.

Out again today for another 20 miles. This time I took out the lovely Davison Impulse. I plan to work my way through all 31 road bikes before I repeat a ride on any given bike. They've been sitting too long and all deserve their time out on the road. Today was just a trip across the valley and back with some cold winds.
https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...39013982ed.jpg I enjoy every ride on the Davison https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...9547ca02ed.jpg The turn around point of today's ride. |
I got out for a 8 mile ride with busy winds. I am heading home tomorrow and should be there by the beginning of next week. Hopefully to some warm riding weather.
|
Yes I did
I got in a quick 5 miler.

Followed the training plan and did Zone 2 yesterday. I think it was more excruciating than pushing the pace.

I got out for a 10 mile ride today after setting up our trailer for the night. It was pleasant riding weather.

Yesterday I rode the Mini Tour of Twin Cities permanent - RUSA #05132 https://ridewithgps.com/routes/47107540
I started and ended at the 2nd control - the Victory Flagpole. The winds were out of the SW so the toughest part was the SW section along the Mississippi and Minnesota rivers. My legs were screaming at me after that section and I still had about 30 miles to go. Still, I finished pretty close to my target of 5:00 of riding with 5:14 spent in the saddle. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...5dfcb706d2.jpg |
