Not beautiful here - 40* and cloudy, with a little bit of wind, but nothing compared to what it can be in these parts. 4.5 miles to test out new Christmas gear (also posted in the “new cycling gear” thread). I can say Gorewear is great for the purpose. ]

I got out and rode today. I took my husband to Indian Rocks beach and dropped him off then I went out for a 19.5 mile ride along Gulf Blvd again. The riding was beautiful again on the way out and harder on the way back. But it doesn't make sense to me as the wind was only supposed to be 3 mph out of the wnw and that should not have been an issue.

Awesome temps for a ride (36F with light SSE winds) but skies were cloudy and streets and bike paths were a bit wet from snow melt. Did a test commute on the old MTB for 28 miles. Glad I took the MTB because although the bike paths I took had all been plowed, one section along a lake had drifted over and it was a challenge to ride. I would not have made it on the commuter (studded tires but 700x30C). I found an alternate route at that lake on the way back home.

I left the house this morning at later than usual at 9:42 am. I rode for 22. 1 miles. It was very pleasant riding today and I took a different route to stay off the bike paths mostly due to my late leaving time,

I left the house this morning at 9:11 am and was able to get a 22.2 mile ride in. I was hoping to add a little more distance today, i that didn't happen. Also as I was riding a black bmw going in the opposite direction of me was blaring his horn, he practically came to a complete stop as he passed me giving me a dirty look. I am not sure who pee'd in his Cheerios but it wasn't me.

Typical motorist double standard. I once was riding home from work and approaching a 4-way stop with a couple of cars in front of me. Eventually it became my turn to proceed through the intersection, but because I typically slow roll up to the intersection in those situations to avoid having to unclip, I did not come to a full stop. As I turned left, the driver I passed on my left said, "Nice stop, a-hole." I shouted back at him, "Nice double standard, a-hole," but he probably didn't hear my full retort.

Guys like that don't eat Cheerios, they eat Fruit Loops :)

I left the house this morning at 9:02 am. The ride was for 20. 1 miles and it was a very pleasant day for riding.

Way too cold for this 75yo Florida geezer.

Got out in Florida's freezing 46℉ (felt like 42℉) at 2:22AM for last ride in 2025 of 28.82 miles.

Went for a ride around the lake this afternoon. 67°, sunshine and very little wind.
Tomorrow will be better so I can end 2025 and start 2026 with very pleasant riding weather.
Not to rub it in to our northern members but here is the next week and a half here in Fort Worth.

I got out for a ride today at 1:00 pm which is a very late start. The temperature was in the mid 50's with sunshine and as it turns out it was great riding weather. I got 17.9 miles in today. Hopefully, I will remember this when I think that mid 50's is too cold.

Mid 50s with sun is a very different ride from mid 50s with cloud cover.

Pepperbelly, I realize there is a difference in the two scenarios you described. I was more reminding myself because the weathermen kept saying it was going to be cold. I didn't find that temperature too cold for riding. I turn the weather on for information but I shouldn't listen to their opinions.

I was able to get out of the house for a ride at 9:45 am this morning. I rode for 22.5 miles. Oh and I found out where the people were setting off the fireworks last night as all the trash was out on their street.

I needed to chill my Gatorade so got out for about an hour - about half and half bike paths and residential streets. Most recent snow was about an inch yesterday. Bike paths were unplowed so higher effort was required, but control was better. Streets hadn't been plowed and were mostly snow pack, but there was some brown sugar floating on top of the snow pack and control was sketchy in spots but I managed to keep rubber side down.

View overlooking the golf course.

You who have to ride in snow have my respect.
I just got in from riding. It’s 74°, sunny and no wind.

I will have to wait almost 6 months before we start getting the same temps as what you have now.

essiemyra 01-02-26 04:40 PM

I left the house this morning at 9:30 and got 20.3 miles ridden. The weather was pleasant with the temp just about 60 f degrees.

missinglink 01-02-26 06:15 PM

The wife and I got out for 11 miles this afternoon.
It was a tad windy, but being 82* was something we couldn't pass up this time of year.
