Congratulations on your 52nd (wish I was 52 again). What are the roads like in your area for road biking? I'm not best friends with gravity.

20.4mi today with a friend. A pair of 2011 Roubaix's, overcast, nice n' cool, great riding weather. Glad I wore a jacket.
Today is the last day to log miles for the People For Bikes National Bike Challenge. Check it out, log your miles, support cycling.

My good fortune with the weather ran out today. Sheoty out there with wind and rain. First time on the trainer in recent memory. 2 hours on the road to nowhere. Simulated a rolling hill ride which would equal about 32 miles on the road based on the speedometer on the rear wheel. Based on the power numbers I worked harder than I would have on the road.

23 miles bike commuting today on the last day of this year's national bike challenge. That doesn't mean I stop riding!

I had to get in one more ride for the bike challenge to move past a few others on the list. I thought it was a lot of fun. #3905 nationally!

The forecast yesterday was sunny and warm, high of 80°F, weather geeks blew it. Cloudy and a high of 72°F, some gusty NNW winds, made for cooler than usual riding. 26 miles and went through a couple of paper towels, and a lot of snot rockets from my runny nose. Time to dig out the tights and ls jerseys, the winter stuff like compression tops, mits, wool socks, balaclava, etc, can wait until January. Weekend is forecast to be really fall like, mild to cool temps and mostly sunny, we shall see how the WX geeks fare.

You rode 66 miles and you didn't maintain exactly the same speed throughout? Imagine that!

If we don't get rained out this weekend from remnants of this cat 4 hurricane off our eastern coast, I have some pretty hefty riding scheduled for tomorrow and Sunday. So today, I met with my buddy Oz and we did a 35 mile, "save the legs" ride. Looked as if we were going to get rained out today but the sun came out and the skies turned blue.

Rain Thursday - no ride. 18.6 today on the Allez with a heavily wrapped left hand/wrist. Neither pain nor age shall stay this brave cyclist from his appointed ride (my apologies to the US Post Office). Cool enough for long pants, jacket, & full fingered gloves. Big wind came up for the last 8 or so miles.

Rode six miles Thursday, intending to make it an easy going 10 miles but apparently needed to blow off some steam. My legs feel surprisingly good after only a month of riding after a long hiatus, but my aerobic conditioning hasn't improved as much as I'd like.

Forced myself to grind harder on the hills until my chest and head were about to burst, then loaf through the downhills to catch my breath. Ended up having to walk the last 50-100 yards on a couple of hills I've pedaled up slowly before. But I'm hoping the variation in effort on these shorter, hilly rides will push me past this plateau in conditioning. At 57 it takes longer to recover so I'll probably do this only once a week for another month, along with more leisurely rides a few times a week to stay limber.

Weekend looks gorgeous here in Texas. I'm planning to ride at least 20-30 miles Saturday or Sunday, possibly just exploring more of the Trinity Trails in Fort Worth. It's pretty flat, and there are some unpaved trails that my bike's 700x38 all terrain tires handle nicely, so it should make for an invigorating ride.

And thanks, all, for the encouragement!

Finally made it all the way up 39 to Crystal Lake from my house. 71 mi 6,300 ft of gain.

Don't ask how long it took. That's the embarrassing part.

Really pleasant conditions except for the last two miles when I was swarmed with gnats and skeeters and to tired to out run them.

Dude - KUDOS to you - you DID IT! How long it takes is not the important part. You conquered gravity, my hat, er helmet's off to you.

Chilly ride this AM, my usual Saturday late start for 15.5 fast miles (1:10) on the Allez. Saturday is dodge-the-traffic day. Where do all these people come from?

52.9 miles @ 16.2 mph with 2013 feet. When I went to bed last night I thought I'd be riding on the trainer today but Joaquin moved offshore so I got to take it outside after all. That was the good news the bad news is that it felt like someone threw the switch off on the summer weather. 49 deg. NE wind 23 mph and some light rain.
Needless to say the first day I wear full finger gloves I get a rear flat. Still it still beats the hell out of 3 hours on the trainer.

27 miles on the Badger trail with the high point being having a close encounter with an eastern milk snake. He was an aggressive little bugger but who can blame him? He was comfortable and I made him move.

Knew it would be a rough day as soon as I left the house. Five miles to LBS for the start and by mile 2 riding into the 15mph wind I was tired. Not at all recovered from the 66 miles on Thursday, the 38 miles on Tuesday and the 103 miles with 11,200' of climbing on last Sunday.

The group heads out and within 3 miles the pace is 26mph and by mile 9.6 I get dropped. I continue the remaining 29 miles out and back to the LBS on my own at a 19.6mph average keeping HR at 145bpm. After getting back to the LBS, have a quick coconut water and head out for an additional 26 windy miles totaling 70 miles.

Urp! And I think I'm doing great when I ride over 20 miles and climb 600'. Kudos, my friend.

Heavy rain last night, a bit chilly this AM, but I got in 15.9 miles on the Allez (with a new tube in the rear tire). I've had 14 flats this year on 3 bikes (none on the trike). New tires all around now.

Took the MTB out for 20 miles of trail riding.

The weather was cool and breezy so the trails were perfect.

First ride since a hard crash 4 weeks ago. Concussion, fractured ribs, bruised lung, hip contusion and minor road rash and
a groin pull. Rode an easy 12 miles just to see how the groin pull is doing. Felt good and will pick up the pace and miles.
Just happy to be riding again and thankful it wasn't worse.
