Rained out the past few days so this is my first ride since the Coast 2 Coast ended on Sunday. Nice and cool and very foggy this morning. Got in a good 37 mile solo ride while taking it easy on the legs.

No rain here today so rode to work. (20 miles.) Kinda cool and breezy, though.

I pulled the trainer out of the closet and put one of the bikes on it. Does that count as a ride? I was exhausted after changing to the trainer tire, twice. Never experienced this before where the tube literally burst inside the tire. The pump gauge read 100psi and I said to myself, one more stroke of the pump. Oh well. Better it happen in the garage than while in the middle of a training session on the trainer p)

I didn't feel that you were making fun about the rains, and those flash floods, Jim, my bad, since I didn't try to use any smilies, or such. The PD is getting to me here lately, time to make a doctor's appointment, I guess.

Yesterday, it started off cloudy, and I got sprinkled on driving home from work, I figured that a third washout was in the cards. Went ahead and rode after checking the radar for local conditions, glad that I did. It turned off clear and very pleasant for the ride. Mixed up the route, and covered some new paths so I wasn't getting in a rut. I ended up with almost the same mileage as I usually cover, unintentionally, 26.65 for the rides.

Got out yesterday in the same fog as John_V, only south of him by around 60 miles as a pelican flies. :) It was a dripping pain in the butt. Nice clean bike for about 100 feet then forget-about-it.

Morning ride was 41 miles then evening ride was 30 more. The latter miles weren't wet but very buggy. Had eaten dinner before going out and had plenty of bug protein for desert during the ride every time I would open my mouth.

25 miles today with temps around 40 but without much of a breeze. The only things getting chilled were my toes as I skipped the toe covers. Unfortunate that the sun didn't come out until I walked into the house. Rumor has it that temps will hit the 70's for a couple of days this week coming.

52 casual miles with my buddy Frank. His first ride since last weekend's Coast 2 Coast. Excellent weather for the ride today.

Less cool and less breezy than yesterday. Rode to work and took the scenic route home. 22 miles.

Great ride today, in perfect weather, and with my three favorite people to ride with. 34 miles at a 23.6 avg.

25 mile club ride in the country this morning. Upper 40's, overcast, breezy but dry.

Another very foggy start on my ride today. I ended up doing a 34 mile, casual ride with my friend Frank again. Today's ride got me over 1,000 miles for the month. My third this year. :)

Brilliant and cool here in New England today. 40.35 miles on the tandem. The sugar maples have turned blazing orange over the last week.

Two 100 milers today. First 100 miler started at 0045 and was a nice solo ride. Had some doubts about my staying awake for the ride since it was another 2.5 hours of sleep. Got back home by 0640, showered, fresh kit, had some breakfast and out by 0740 to LBS to join the group ride and added the necessary extra for my second 100 miles. Hopefully a good night sleep tonight since wife and I will be walking 6 miles tomorrow AM.

Going to be GREAT getting that hour back tonight!

Rode from my ridge "highlands" to the Susquehanna River this crisp, frosty, Pennsylvania morning. No land speed records were achieved, no new times were posted, and the rewards were personal. Baldy Ski lifts from the house via GMR 80 mi and 8280 ft

This was my first try at it and ended up walking the last 100 yards or so.

Figured that was less embarrassing than the potential for a tombay with an audience.

The last four miles of switchbacks are as brutal as the reputation posits.
400+ ft per mile for the last four.

Had a luncheon to go to at noon so I only had time for a 24 mile ride. Not liking this time change.

I thought I was going to be on the shelf for a while after a really klutzy move on Tuesday. Walking home from the barbershop I tripped on some broken sidewalk and went down on my hip, the side with the hip replacement. Thought I dislodged something and really saw stars. Hurt so much I went for an x ray which thankfully showed no structural damage. I wasn't going to ride for a while but I need 28 km to reach my Strava MTS goal of 1250 km for the month so I sucked it up and did 26.7 miles to hit the goal. When I got up this morning I didn't feel too bad so I went out for 35 miles @ 16.2 with 1079 ft. Now excuse me while I get my ice pack.:p

I took a break from riding my old Fuji (roads were still a little wet), so as crazy as I am, I put on my Asics running shoes and went running.

Pace: 9.04 min/mile
Calories burned: 1,035

...not too bad for 54 yrs old, 6'0" and 208 lbs. I wonder how far of a bicycle ride on a C&V Fuji 12 speed, would it take to equal 1,035 calories burned?

After being rained out yesterday (I'm a fair weather cyclist) the little angel on my shoulder suggested that I ride the trainer. Felt good despite only looking at the outdoors rather than being in it.

Today it was a choice between riding or going for a walk with my wife ... guess which one I chose?

Very nice 22 mile Screamer ride with my favorite stoker. Mild temps with some sunshine.

Another 20 mile ramble on my new favorite route west of Fort Worth. Nice, quiet semi-rural residential route. Very little traffic, wide shoulders on the highway section, so I don't need to worry about huffing and puffing while slowly churning uphill.

Mostly wanted to try out some new tires - Michelin Protek Cross Max - on some pavement, sand, gravel, mud and grass. I liked the overall ride feel of the Specialized Hemispheres (regular, not Sport or Armadillos), but after four flats in one month from grass burrs and metal shards I wanted something with better puncture resistance. The Michelins weigh nearly twice as much but only felt heavier on uphills. Fair trade off if they minimize flats, and they do handle very nicely - can hardly tell any difference from the Hemispheres. Maybe just a wee bit "harder", although it's hard to tell with brand new rubber.

A couple of photos from yesterday's wet 100k over to the in-laws. I put on my "dandelion" Halloween outfit for the wet conditions. I got another gusher of a nosebleed along the way and stopped to grab a cotton ball I carry with me for just such. There were a couple of ladies getting in an afternoon walk in the rain and they really took off when they saw me and all the blood. It was all over my jacket, face and bike.....I rode my 4th string bike with it being so wet. The HED wheel was just rebuilt from a cracked rim and it held up just super. I tend to forget what a terrific ride that bike has. Used to be my go to bike but it sits patiently for it's time on the road.

Nothing yesterday, rains were far too heavy to think about getting out. Friday and Saturday were fairly nice rides, Saturday was rainy, but nothing remotely like Sunday's were. Thankful that we haven't had the flooding that Texas and Louisiana have had to deal with, and no tornadoes here, either.
