Twenty miles for last ride on Lake Okeechobee trail. So sad, but in two months I will be riding around Sequim WA for the summer. Much cooler and lots of tree shade.
|
A good hot and humid, 35 mile ride this morning. Was able to get in a sprint or two and some intervals until the headwinds became pretty strong.
|
A repeat of yesterday's 35 mile ride with the exception that I started from the parking lot on the other end of the MUP. Still very hot and windy.
|
Rode for the first time since I injured my left knee six weeks ago. On the Kona, no less (I still believe "Hananna" is Hawaiian for "as heavy as a tank:lol:").
Rode to the bank, then to the tire shop to check on tires for a certain Little Mustang, Then to Old Bullhead, back and up some hills behind my house. My legs are going to hate me tomorrow. |

Strange weather here. Two days ago it snowed and rained (kinda pathetic, in Minnesota they'd call it summer) and today was perfect biking weather. Low 60s, light wind in the AM. Double trip - Biking buddy showed up so I did it again for a total of 19.6 miles on the Allez. Had a failed attempt at mounting the Yakima bike carrier on the SUV to carry the trike. Definitely wasn't built for that. 81" does fit into the Merc but the boom sticks all the way into the front seat so it becomes basically a one passenger and trike vehicle. Nice and sunny so I took the trike out but the 6.2 mile ride was cut short by heavy head winds (16mpg). I'm a Wind Wuss, anything over 6mph I don't like. 12mph tailwind the beginning of the ride did help to push me up to 21mph. Fastest I've been on the trike. All in all a pretty good 25.6 mile ride. :speedy: :recum: 2015 (Apr 10): 1038 Miles—75 Days—98 hrs ♂ Weekly Avg: 96 Apr 2013 to Present: 5,711 Miles—395 Days—486 Hrs I don't want to seem like I'm always right but I am and that's why it comes across that way |
14 miles solo after work, on the beach at Hollywood Broadwalk. Got my new Hornit 140db horn today.
I have to tell you all, it is incredible ! I was able to blast it in a few faces of the broadwalk zombies, excuse me I mean pedestrians who are walking towards me, facing me, watching me come forward on the designated bike only, NOT pedestrian path, who refuse to at least stand aside. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed riding through the matrix and hitting them with a full blast from that horn. Sounds callus ? Sounds maybe a bit twisted ? o.k. maybe, I call it being able to relax while riding through the gauntlet of walkers. I thoroughly and most completely enjoyed blasting these inconsiderate idiots who ignore my safety and their own. It was glorious. This horn has added a completely new level of enjoyment to my nightly ride. Check it out at this link below. If you fast forward to time 4:30 you can see and hear how well it works. http://youtu.be/P-dtacOkdc4 |
21 miles commuting today. Nice weather!
|
32 mile round trip commuting today. Got wet and dirty on the way in, dried out a bit on the return. It was better than the sleet a few days ago!
|
did you ride today
A very nice 27 mile ride with the wife this morning. She had her best times ever on this ride.
|
21 miles on the long wheelbase 'bent this afternoon after finishing home duties: Completed privacy fence along one side of backyard and replaced kitchen faucet set. Then, was allowed to go on a ride in the glorious 60's, sunny, dry, etc. weather!
Post-ride: Forsythia bushes didn't get hit by frost this year. Some years they bloom, other years they don't. http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z...M/IMG_4004.jpg |
A nice tandem ride today, 38.45 miles with 25mph winds.

Three rides this week.
Two on "Morley", my 1951 Rudge Sports that I finished last Sunday. Got my Look out today on a sunny and 60 degree day in central Ohio. After a solid week of rain. |
57 miles on Skyline Drive from Loft Mountain to Big Meadows and back. Pretty nice day except for the wind.
|
27 miles solo on Hallandale, Hollywood and Dania beaches. Another humid evening last night.
Saturday night had the Hollywood Broadwalk full of people. There were many people who as usual, ignored the fact that they were on the designated bike path, walking. I kindly reminded them with a little blast from my 140db Hornit horn. Yea, I'm enjoying that new horn with great exuberance. I made a stop at the Quarter Deck on Dania Beach Pier, my halfway point. I had some water and a little rest, chatted with a few people who commented on my bike and lights. I had a little time to reflect upon the fact that I am lucky to live 2 1/2 miles from the beach. |
I headed out with a "B" group this morning but they were barely doing 13mph and more into socializing since it was their first ride of the year. So at the 3 mile mark I told them I was going to drop off and headed out on my own. I covered 35 miles @ 15.7mph with 1200 feet of climbing.
That makes 200 miles so far this season and i'm getting close to my 40 mile average ride. |
64 km in 2 hrs 10 min. with a helpful tail wind. Part 1 on an overnighter tour. Part 2 and the wind had changed 180 degrees. Back home in 2.15. How often does it work out like that? Not enough.
|
Was feeling a bit tired today...so a quick 5 mile ride fixed that.
|
23 tandem miles with my favorite stoker this afternoon.

This strange April weather has cooperated the past few days. Nice cool 15.4mi ride on the Roubaix :speedy: this morning, Mostly sunny, low 50s, 3mpn wind, long pants & jacket. 10.1mi ride on the trike :recum: this afternoon, sunny, low 60s, 6mph wind, shorts & t-shirt for a good 25.5mi day. Sunday afternoon, lotza picnickers and tourists (slow unaware pedestrians) near the park areas. But I have a loud voice

First ride since last Sunday, 24.4 mi. @ 20.7 mph avg.
|
60.1 miles 4060 ft
The first 30 were great, with the wind at my back and the sun peaking out from time to time. Then it was time to pay the piper, 20+ miles into a brutal headwind. The most exhausting ride of the year. https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8757/...f093de54_o.jpg |
50 miles on the Blue Ridge Parkway from Mabry Mill south toFancy Gap and back. This is a pretty, but not very spectacular section of the Parkway, and not very hilly. But I was still wasted by the end of the ride. Man I'm really getting a slow start this spring :(
|
201.8 miles @ 15.4 rolling ave last Friday, the Hemet double century staff ride
30.8 miles @ 17.4 rolling ave on a late Sunday morning ride |
Took the MTB out to Bethpage for its first real ride.
http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r...6.jpg~original And learned that I have a lot to learn about riding one. One thing is... you fall. http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r...2.jpg~original |
I was able to get in a good 22 mile ride this morning before an early visit to the doctor.
