64.3 miles @ 15.5 rolling ave on the club ride today
|
35 mile Goshen Loop in the roaring wind. The river was really high, well up over the banks in some areas. Only saw one kayaker.
|
Thursday after work I had time for 16 mi. @ 19.9 in 16 mph winds. This morning I got out for 22 mi. @ 20.4, this mornings ride was my 3rd best on this route, pretty good for me this early in the year as my two faster rides were done later in the season last year.

25 mile tandem ride on CIBA's annual Pedalmentalist Easter Services Ride. Very nice day in Central Indiana. Peeps at the SAG served by the Easter Bunny.
|
43.37 on the tandem. First "real" ride of the year.
|
Sunny Sunday afternoon 23 mile ride, 2300 ft. It's not often I ride this (west) side of the lake. A nice change in perspective.

I went for 39.2 miles on Saturday. I'd planned on doing 40, but right after passing 39 miles, I was too fast coming into a curve and hit the curb. It was a good wipeout. I ended up with a knot on my head and a scraped and sore knee. It reminds me of when I was nine and always had scraped knees. The wind was brutal. I'd never realized how much a headwind can affect you. It was like pedaling uphill when I was in a very level part of the road. I had to shift way down. I made it to just over 85 miles for the week. I feel like I am progressing well eight weeks after my surgery.
|
That is impressive this soon after your surgery. Watch those curbs, they will jump out in front of you at the worst possible times. Might want to watch for concussion signs it you have a goose egg on the noggin, I had one last January when I ate a bit of asphalt for an afternoon snack.

55 miles on the New River Trail (gravel rail-trail conversion) from Pulaski south along Claytor lake and the New River. Almost dead flat, but it turned out somebody had made Strava segments of a couple 1.5-2% grades, and I got 2015 KOM's on them. Woohoo! A bit too much gravel riding for my poor rear end though.

Catching up for the weekend
Saturday 64.3 miles @ 15.5 rolling ave on the club ride Sunday 28.6 miles @ 17.9 rolling ave |
35 miles yesterday, 14 today. Hallandale, Hollywood and Dania Beach Fl. Having issues with the rear break chattering.
|
Went out with my 24 year old son. We did 25 miles and he dragged my ass up two nice climbs. I hung with him but now my body is punishing me.
He said he was impressed that I was in such good shape....m for a old man. |
Twenty miles of bike commuting today. Lots and lots of NCAA Final Four fans clogging up downtown Indy on the way home.

The weather has turned for the worse. No ride yesterday-high winds, cold and rainy tomorrow. So I snuck a cold and breezy 10mi ride today on the hybrid. Not even the sunny conditions warmed things up, but at least I got a ride in. I've spent the last couple of days revamping the bike spreadsheet. Excedrin headaches 326-395 tracing 7 different bikes over 3 years. It's all on 2 pages now.

32 miles commuting. Well, technically that was yesterday, not today. Tomorrow it will be the day before.
|
Nope, no road travels today, did ride the FX indoors though. Spent some time "trying" to install a Wal Mart speedreader on the rear wheel. It doesn't want to operate that far from the read-out. Then again, its from WM, right?
So if it quits raining sometime later, I'm off to the local BS for help. Forecast rain most of the week ... GGggRRrrr! |
35 miles this morning on a modification of my standard 35 mile route. The modification to the route took 5 minutes off my PB for the unmodified route and added almost 2 mph to the average speed. I think I'll keep this new change. After the ride was done, I rode from the parking lot to the water station to meet the wife and rode with her to the end of her ride. 38 miles total.

13 miles solo on the beach, a car tried to pull out onto the broadwalk, the cops were excited when I informed them if this, it was hot even around 8pm, high humidity and a 10+ mph breeze and over 80 degrees.
Made the 13 miles in slightly less than 1 hour. |
An excellent 45 mile ride this morning; part of it with some friends.
|
I'm currently riding my desk chair after my morning commute. The rest of the ride will come later this afternoon.
|
20 miles on a beautiful 80 degree day.

I hit the 1,000 mile mark for the year today. It took me until late May last year. Cold but sunny with a moderate 9mph wind. 13 miles on the trike. The legs are back after the fractured pelvis and DVT Nov-Jan. Loving (semi) retirement. Technically I'm an author and self-publisher but have spent all my time playing with bikes and trikes. Been trying to finish a new novel for the past year and a half. Patrially writers-block, mostly laziness. As long as I'm riding (and burning calories) I'm happy.

45 miles today

I did my commute today. The morning was dry, a bit cool, quite pleasant except for the persistent headwind from the northeast. The ride home was, ah, different. Even SmartWool socks get cold when saturated at 35 degF. The really interesting experience was hearing the clickety-click of sleet on my helmet. All in all a very nice day.
