Twelve miles Sunday, mostly to stretch out the kinks from Saturday's longer ride.

Irene Dunn was right, even if she didn't realize it. A fish does need a bicycle.

Chiily ride this morning in central PA... we had frost! And how can I have what seemed like a headwind my entire loop? Great day to train and enjoy.

Beautiful ride in Palos Verdes on Sunday. I made this for a buddy stranded in Michigan.

baron von trail 05-16-16 09:46 AM

Yep. I'll ride a total of 50 miles today: 20 this morning in 35 Degree weather, 30 more to get home tonight in what I hope will be 65 degree sunshine.

Greybeard712 05-16-16 01:46 PM

Ma Nature is being fickle again. Chilly with intermittent sunshine, long pants n' jacket. 22.4 miles on the Roubaix and a turkey club salad at the Senior Center.

10 miles this evening after work. Completely flat ride.

John_V 05-17-16 12:51 PM

Missed our regular morning ride today because the weatherman said high chances of rain all day. No rain all morning so the wife and I ate lunch and went for a nice and short, 5 mile bike ride around the neighborhood.

Greybeard712 05-17-16 01:31 PM

A little cool and windy. 19.8 miles on the Allez. Shorts weather tomorrow.

In Los Angeles During the 1994 power outage residents called 911 to report strange clouds. They were actually seeing the Milky Way for the first time due to lack of light pollution.

Rain stayed to the north so out to Walmart on the grocery grabber at 4:49AM. Gallon of milk, 3 lbs of lemons, a few other items and a zig-zag route back home for 11 miles. Breakfast, messed with computer, news/weather on the tube and out at 8:14AM for another 65 miles.

Ten miles plus some grocery shopping on a coolish afternoon with some sprinkles. Wore my rain jacket and got wetter from sweating than I would have from the slight sprinkling. Because sprinkles are for winners. And I'm a 12 mph loafer.

Had a nice 38 mile ride with Steve this morning. I was still a bit stiff from Sunday's crash and he was having allergy issues today so the ride was a little slower than normal but we did get a few good miles in.

baron von trail 05-18-16 11:11 AM

Yep. Rode into work 20 miles. Plan to ride 30 more to get home.

macpolski 05-18-16 11:48 AM

Finally got out after two days off; rain and stuff to do. Pretty good weather day. Legs felt good after being rested - 30 miles, I'm happy.

Greybeard712 05-18-16 02:35 PM

Shorts and long sleeve shirt. It's still a little cool at 9AM. 22.4 on the Roubaix. Summer is taking it's time getting here.

19 miles today riding to and from work. But.....................flatted on the way home. Stopped, pulled a piece of radial tire wire out of the tread, replaced the tube with a used/patched tube and continued on my ride. But...........................started to lose air after a short distance. Stopped, pumped it up a bit, and rode on for a ways. Stopped and aired up a couple more times before finally giving up and walking the last mile or so. Beautiful day for a walk! Patched the hole in the original tube at home. Still holding air!
Can't complain about flats - this was first one in about 14 months. (sound of rapping on head)

Trained for an upcoming 80 miler with a mostly full load (small rear panniers, trunk box, and handlebar bag, all filled as they will be on the bigger trip) on a hilly 25-mile course, and felt like a million bucks at the end. Hydration and nutrition seem to have made the difference today.

canklecat 05-19-16 12:16 AM

About 36 miles Wednesday evening: 12 miles to the 12 mile Ride for Silence, and back home. Cool and some sprinkling rain but very pleasant. The 8 mph pace of the RfS group ride seemed almost too slow. My bike seems to prefer a 12 mph loafing speed without much effort. Takes more effort to ride the brakes, which violates my sense of purity in laziness.

Rode 7.6 miles to work today, only 8 more days I get to do that before I retire from 40 years of teaching here. A bit hot and humid, but it's Florida so that's pretty much always true. Next fall, when school starts back, I think I will get up to ride the 7.6 miles to the faculty parking lot, just laugh, ride to a coffee shop to hang out for a while, ride some more, and ride home. Rinse and repeat!

Two funny things on the ride today- It's obviously turtle mating season, had to stop 5 times on the way here to escort horny turtles across the road to their friend of the opposite sex, and the comment I got from a teacher half my age getting out of her fancy SUV (her husband must make $$$, no teacher can afford those things) in the faculty parking lot. "Did you ride your bike ALL THE WAY here?" It's 7.6 miles, takes less time than she spent putting on makeup, get out of your steel and glass box, enjoy the world out there!

baron von trail 05-19-16 11:49 AM

yep...50 miles total by the end of the day. Looking at a 200 mile week if I ride again tomorrow. Weather seems to indicate that this will be likely.

Greybeard712 05-19-16 01:13 PM

It's finally warm enough for shorts and short sleeved shirt - but nasty winds. 15.1 on the Allez. 20° cooler tomorrow and high winds. Blah!

Bike to Work Day! 13.32 miles through downtown Rochester and along the river. Sweet way to commute. Looking forward to trip home later...

Greybeard712 05-20-16 11:59 AM

Really nasty wind today. The kind that will blow a 225lb guy on a 22lb aluminum bike off the bike path. Only 7.9 miles on the Allez.

Nice ride today. Actually I found a reason to like wind; it was a calm, non-breezy day, on my ascent up one of my nemesis hills, a dually, diesel-driven pick-up blazed by me and the exhaust nearly choked out my progress. The blasted exhaust pipe was on my side of his truck and with no breeze to clear it, stayed with me, for several yards...
