16.5 miles this evening, even though I'd told myself I was taking the day off to rest the back and neck. Felt good. For now.

Rode the metric century at the Dairyland Dare this Saturday. We took a wrong turn and added some bonus hills and miles, .

No ride Sunday, swollen right hand, couldn't even make a fist let alone pull a brake lever. 21 fast miles today on the Roubaix. Summer will be over all too quickly.

Mixed up ride with the group this morning. Was supposed to be a nice paced 40 miler but only managed 30 miles together. Couldn't let it go there so the other 40 were lonely and a bear into the wind with 93F temperatures.

A little over 16 miles this morning. First solo ride in seemingly forever.
Feels like I am starting out all over again. There have been too many serious lapses in my
riding frequency this year. Partly due to weather,or family commitments,or travel, or ailments........
But the #1 reason is that I just can't seem to get enthused about riding.
Maybe it is due to the decline in my speeds (although since moving 2 years ago, the
changes in topography have accounted for some of that, or, so I tell myself....)
If not for my riding buddy I probably would have taken the last 3 months off....
But, he has too much going on with his family now, so I'm on my own and am determined
to put in some miles.Hopefully, quality miles.........

32 mi commute again. Very cool and damp his morning. Last couple of rains were welcome as trails were not dusty.
It is dark at 8:15 now! sucks! I am going to have to start going in earlier and take the long leg in the morning instead of the evening.

The weather hasn't played well with people this summer. I went for a short ride on my rain bike between rain storms today. The sun will come out tomorrow.

17.9miles today, about like yesterday's ride.
I have always found the second day back to be the worst, and today didn't let me down!
But, I survived..............
I rode the flattest roads I could find, and had almost 500' of climbing.......
I climb more just getting out of my neighborhood than on most 20 milers that
I used to ride back in Fla............

I see a lot of people posting about rain. Isn't that where water falls from the sky? Strange phenomenon.
(It hasn't rained here since May).
20.3 miles today on favorite bike (Allez) - in bright sunshine. SPF 30 kind of day.

4.15 miles. Heat Index of 98. Thought I'd be able to ride at least 15 miles this evening before the projected storms moved in. I was oh so wrong. It all happened so fast. Black sky all of a sudden, and the gray sheet of pounding rain visible in the near distance. Turned and beat it back home against a suddenly fierce headwind, uphill, on grass (a shortcut. Don't ask) while lightening was flashing overhead. Made it to the front door just in time.
The road bike is now sitting in my Dining Room. Maybe tomorrow we'll ride.

First bike to work of the week today - 19 miles.
Cat 6 question - do I get points for catching up to a guy but not passing him before he got off the street onto a sidewalk?

Nope, just like the kid on the bmx bike that sees you coming, and blasts from his driveway to his neighbor's before you can catch him. Race ended before you got in front = you lose.

20.1miles this morning.
A little farther, a little faster (read....less slowly..)
I am striving for consistency now rather than performance.

21.23 miles on the Tarmac, very defensive riding. Hate these guys that pull out of a street or driveway, looking left only, and don't see you coming on their right (especially when you have a crossing signal at an intersection). It's a conspiracy, I tell ya'.

Not today.....the lawn tractor broke the deck drive belt yesterday, so I took
today to replace the belt and perform other necessary maintenance before the
heat of the day set in. Also had to finish mowing.
With all the up and down that sort of stuff requires, I would have been hard pressed
to accomplish that after a ride..........
