After a week off the bike due to weather, weekend travel and then a nasty stomach virus, I finally got back on the bike today for an easy 15 miles on the flattest roads I could find near home. Didn't want to push it after not being able to keep any food in me for a couple of days.
I can't wait for the time change next week so I can ride almost every day.

Still doing 24 miles a day RT to work. 58 and acting 16 I guess. Thought I might need knee surgery but it turned out to be bone spurrs. I'm getting 3 shots of some lubricant over the next three weeks to see if it will help the inflamation. 14 weeks left until my little 48 year old brother and I take a 300 miler over 6 days on the Seaway Trail along the St Lawrence. I feel young until I look in the mirror. Bad things man. Bad thingss (:-)

I stretched my commute home to 11 miles and was rewarded with a beautiful sunrise near the end of my ride. Added 4.5 more miles this afternoon riding back into work.

I rode 7 miles to the car sbop to bring back my car from its yearly service. At 62 F, it was a bit warmer than I would have preferred. Guess Spring is here. The bike went on to the trunk rack and both my vehicles are in the garage now.

No riding today. It'll be rain all day today and throughout the weekend, with flood warnings.
As soon as I get to go back to work after the weekend, it'll be sunny.
Aaaaaarrrrrrrgggggghhhhhhhh!

18 miles and I got caught unprepared in a light rain. If I had ridden the Casseroll with its fenders and had I worn my rain jacket, I could have gone a lot further comfortably. But it was a good ride and tomorrow's forecast is for sunny skies.

26.5 miles and a fairly strong NE wind on the way home. Making up for a strong Nor'easter over the weekend. Glad I got out though.

Sounds like my weekend, no flooding forecast, but the last of the snow is melting, today is a cold rain, blustery wind you can tell it's still winter. You can also tell that spring is coming, supposed to be temperatures in the teens Celsius and sunny all week, and I got my spring haircut today. I don't think we have seen the last of the white stuff though, it always seems to take one last kick at the can.

27.38 miles today, 72 degrees and sunny. First decent ride after taking a month off due to a sinus infection (all gone now). Enjoyed a brisk tailwind for 10 miles or so then paid for it on the way back into the wind. My new wireless bike computer says my maximum speed was 84.5 mph! Must have hit some radio interference somewhere along the way.

March 13, yes, another perfect day to ride, After 2 days of solid rain.
Temp in the hhigh 60s when I left about 11AM. Rode 37+ miles. Wind was out of the W @ 25/33 so it was a bit of a drag in some places and a little help in others. Stopped at Panera Bread for my usual coffee and sweet roll.

1360 miles this year
45 ride days TY vs 42 ride days LY

38.8 miles in rain, wind and 45 degrees with a 21.4 ave. I ended up 3rd in the Cat 4 race. My cycling clothes weighed at least 15 lbs at the end.

I took a solo 33 mile ride today, which I haven't done in a LOOOONG time, but I hadn't ridden much this week. Fought the wind at first, but enjoyed the tailwind home. Here's what most of the ride looked like:

Best ride of year, so far.
The weather was cold, windy & damp. However the skies started to clear as the morning progressed and it became a great ride. I headed into the 18 mph wind for the first 25 miles. I stopped for coffee and met three riders from the popular XXX racing club. They invited me to tag along and my fender-clad 1978 Trek 400 and I hung in there with a pace of 17 to 22 mph. I even pulled for a while and went off-the-front during a curvy section. Considering I've been mostly off the bikes since November, I was really pleased.
After about 15 miles of hanging in there, I thanked them and let them pull ahead.
I covered 51 miles in a little over 3 hours. Now I just need to ride my target of 10 to 15 days a month.

Since my birthday (#56) was Friday, and I'm prepping for a spring brevet series, I decided to do double my age yesterday. Here's what I came up with: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/39362 It was a gorgeous if cold day. Right at freezing when I headed out at 9am, topped out at probably 42f. No pics, sorry (yeah, I know, "then it didn't happen"). If you're ever out here with your bike, you have GOT to ride the Crooked River Canyon (the squiggly bit along the east side of my route) - it's one of the most spectacular unknown places anywhere. And no ride today - 'tis my bride's birthday, and we're going to a concert, but it's back to commuting tomorrow.

Found some new hills today. Only short sharp ones but plenty of them. 1800 ft climbing in 10 miles but as I am suffering- that was enough.

I had planned to ride today, but I didn't have enough desire to ride in cool air blowing 20+mph, so I wimped out and stayed indoors. There will be other days to ride.

Yesterday we rode about 75 miles in the local mountains. Bob said there was 9000 feet of climbing, and it felt every bit of that to me. I suffered on the early climb for about 15 miles and again later on a 6 mile climb. In the middle of the ride I felt o.k. Today I rode the mtb for a few hours with a friend and felt better, even though I was toast from yesterday.
I'm the fat one on the right.

30 miles on a route with a couple of hard hills and several rollers. Enjoyed riding with guys who are working themselves back into shape, so even my meager hill climbing ability was enough to keep me at the front of the group. I avoided dropping them except on the two major hills where I had to ride at my own pace or suffer. I also enjoyed the 15+mph tailwind for the first half of the ride. The 15+mph headwind on the second half, not so much.

Another 50 miler for my group, 8 of us today. I think it was about 3000 feet of climbing: One 4 mile incline, one 1 mile 7%, a bunch of short steep ones, then another 1 mile 7%er. I felt a bit better than I have in recent weeks. My leg has been bothering me, but was better today.
