42 miles. I rode for an hour up towards the ski resort, crested a long steep hill and was blasted by fierce Arctic cold wind and rain. Turned around got back where it was warm and sunny, rode North a few miles and headed West again towards the mountains. Same thing happened. So I ended riding around for another hour and headed home. A lot of climbing today, with 35+ mph descents.

39 miles Sunday for an Easter Fools ride with friends I hadn't seen for awhile. Chilly and windy but warm company made up for it.

22 tandem miles yesterday on our club's annual Pedalmentalist Easter ride. With the Easter Bunny sharing treats midway through the ride. A bit cool in the 40's but at least the snow held off till Easter evening.
Today, snow all gone by afternoon so brief 7 mile ride after work. |
Got in a nice 40 mile solo ride this morning. I was all hyped up last night because the winds were suppose to have a max gusts of around 12 mph. I guess I was too hyped up because I hardly got any sleep last night. I still ended up with a nice pace during the ride but not what I was shooting for.

With a storm front predicted for later this evening we have constant 20mph winds straight out of the south. So that's the heading I first rode into. It took me well over an hour to reach the next town south of me, and it completely wore out my legs battling that killer wind. But, I sailed back in about 30 minutes. Got in 2 hours and 16 minutes total.

19.3 miles (31.1k). Old Man Winter is a tenacious ol' fart—he just won't let go. It was really cold again this morning even tho mostly sunny.

63 miles this morning and friend shamed me into another 40 that I just got back from. 103 miles total so now it's time for PIZZA!!!!
|
30 miles Tuesday evening, taking advantage of the 17-20 mph north wind to tackle some hills with tailwind. Paid for it on the flip side -- even the downhills were slow into the wind. Time for Sonic burgers, rings and beer.

16.8 miles (27.0k). Low energy, tired old man. Don't get sick, it's bad for your health.

60 miles with my buddy Frankie. Had a late start so we got done later that what I had hoped for but still a very good ride.

46 miles. It was a warm, 65°here today. I did the same ride I did Sunday, but didn't run into the very cold rain I encountered then. Rode to the top of one of the roads leading up into the mountains, Tumalo Falls, then rode back down and started up the hill towards the ski resort. About 1/2 way to the resort after several very long steep hills I decided I wasn't having fun anymore and I was very fatigued, just worn out. So I turned around and hitting speeds over 40 mph, I quickly made it down to the flats. I wish I had started my ride on the road to the ski resort first, it would have been easy enough to make it, I haven't been up there in several months due to the snow. It's going to be 60° Sunday and 65° Monday, I'll head up there then.

22.5 mile group ride this morning before work
...which I was late for. |
Headed out of the garage then made a left turn smack into a 12/15mph headwinds. slow, SLOW, SLOW describes my forward movement and my mental state throughout the 50 miles accomplished this morning. Only bright spot during the ride was coming up on a Bald Eagle.

Two days ago the temperature was approaching 80 F, then last night we had a freeze watch. Today with cloud cover and cool easterly winds, the temperature is supposed to get to 60, but feels more like 45. Got in 2 hrs, 5 min.

40 windy, solo miles this morning. Had some bad sinus problems so the ride effort was pretty hard.
|
Biked to work today for only the third time this year - I blame Mother Nature. Freezing in the am (about 30F) but into the 40's for the ride home, which was very nice. 21 miles. Nice and dry today.

27 miles Thursday evening, tackling a little tougher training route that starts fast and ends with increasingly steep roller coasters. Tricky to pace myself there. Gusting wind made it a bit tricky but weather was beautiful otherwise.

Didn't get a chance to ride yesterday so I was really looking forward to today's 60 mile ride. It started off well but went down hill as the winds kept picking up. Almost got blown off the road several times but decided to stop when it got to the point that branches from trees were being blown at us. Got in a total of 40 miles with winds at 30+ mph. I'm hoping tomorrow isn't going to be as bad.

18 tandem miles this afternoon. Low 40's but sunny.
Noticed a case of empty Corona bottles on the side of a road not far from home - some of them broken and on pavement on the edge of the lane. Drove by there later on way to dinner and we picked them all up for our curbside recycling. |
No. Have not ridden solo, since last Friday, and I miss it. Carbon bike frame is damaged, and unridable, due to chain drop damage, and a chain keeper that didn't "keep" Did a tandem ride on Tuesday, and aired it out. Two stronger riders = PR's on a heavy bike LOL
Won't be riding again until the new build on a different brand is done sometime this coming week. I have to go and rent something and do hill repeats, just to keep the calves and quads from atrophying. |

Well, "yesterday's tomorrow" is "today's now" and I'm getting ready for the 167 mile Cross Florida ride. Yesterday was indeed windy and glad things have calmed down a bit plus hoping the rains stay away. Bib number 1000 so that's pretty cool, new tires on the Roubaix and hoping to be able to suck some wheels as we are starting into a head wind. |
13.2 miles (21.2k). Two days of wind and rain so it felt good to get out today. Truckee River overflowed in the usual spot so the ride was shorter than usual but I got in a ride nonetheless. Sunny but cool.

The wife wanted to ride this morning so after checking the weather and not seeing any rain on the radar, we set out to the park to ride. Pulled the bikes out of the van and she starts pumping up her tires when ....... Yep! It starts raining. Get home and about half hour later, the sun comes out and the skies are blue. She decided to give it another try after lunch. We got a ride in but not what I was wanting. Afternoon thunderstorm was lurking upon us so I decided to ride with her so if it rained we would get wet together. Had time for a 15 mile ride before the sky darkened and the light drizzle started. |
