27 miles yesterday. Only 14 today. Quite windy. Yesterday saw a pheasant walking at the side of the road and on the way back two wild turkeys crossed in front of me. They all looking dressed for a day's outing and seemed somewhat miffed at the traffic. Really do have to get another camera. Winter's bite is becoming a gentle nibble.

32.5 miles this morning. Skies mostly cloudy but the sun broke through at times. The temp this morning was 48* and 58* when I arrived home.

Yep. 128 km in beautiful sunny weather. Still needed arm and knee warmers heading out but shed them about half way.

43 pretty-flat rural miles in wonderful 70-something weather with just enough breeze for the tailwinds to be helpful while the headwinds were slight annoyances.

30 miles (the short option) with CRW. Cool and windy but nice. The last CRW ride I did was, oh, 25 years ago.

Betcha' I held the record today for combined age of bike and rider (Raleigh Gran Sport of unknown history but > 25 years and 61). I wonder if carbon fiber contributes as much as carbon dioxide to global warming?

April 11, just a shorty today, 22+ miles, it was a beautiful day, sunny 74/76* weather, and mild wind ENE @ 13/15.

Could not deal with only doing 22 so I put the lights on and went for 20 more tonight. It was a great ride.

Revised numbers
42.5 miles today
328.6 miles this month
2166 miles this year
68 ride days TY vs 64 ride days LY
5333 miles needed to hit 2010 goal (7500 miles)
I am @ 28% of goal
514 miles ahead of this date last year

Last edited by kjc9640; 04-11-10 at 07:40 PM. Reason: Had to do a second ride tonight

The Mrs. and I got out on only our "second" out of the city ride, rode out of the city to Hwy. 24 E. and rode to the nearest town of Falcon, CO. Although it is more like a "suburb" these days, there's still a bit of "empty space" when heading out into the "plains". Hwy. 24 is a well used 4 lane highway but it has pretty wide and decent shape emergency lanes for riding bicycles on. We are just working our way out of the "protection" of Paths and Trails with few city street's thrown in, on to actual ROADS. The day started out at 50F but covered in high clouds and a very rare "no wind", on the way to Falcon, after lunch it turned, Sunny and 60+ but the wind came back pretty strong! Mostly a cross-head wind going back home. Only 27.35 miles but a baby step towards doing some S240's touring this spring and hopefully a multi-day tour in July!! SWEET!

2nd day of my mini-vacation, last day of spring break for the kids, so I thought it'd be nice to take them out for a ride.

My 7-y-o nephew wanted to stay and play with the neighbor kids, so my daughter (12) and older nephew (15) went out a'pedalin'. We planned a stop at Wendy's for frostys, and a few MUP miles.

Two parks, a rock quarry, and a convenience store later, we arrive home, after having battled the swirling winds for 16 miles. (Oh -- we all ride fat tires.)

I had a nice ride today. I was cruising along a wide, trafficless suburban road singing along with the Allman Brothers when a police car approached from the opposite direction. I glanced over to see him gesturing to me. As we passed I noticed he was wearing an unpleasant expression and yelling out to me, "SLOW IT DOWN! SLOW IT DOWN!" Surprised, I looked up and saw a speed limit sign reading 25 m.p.h. Hhwwhhattt ?!!?
Now, I don't have a computer on my bike yet, but I am certain that unless I was traveling downhill, I would not be able to cruise along at over 25 m.p.h. even if a grizzly brandishing a knife and fork was chasing me! I don't know what he was thinking, but it made my day!

Incorrect. The gesture he gave you was "jdon's takin' you down" in the great blueberry bake-off.

Around 63 miles today around Va Bch, VA. Left home and road to False Cape State Park, to scope out the camp sites. I plan to do an overnighter later this spring, if it does not close due to budget cuts.

Ah, I haven't found a way that works yet. So far all I managed to do is slow it down. (Cycling helps.)

You'll just have to buy an older bike!

got in 27 miles with 2700 feet of climbing. The 20 -40 mph winds made it a bit of a challenge. A couple of rain showers and I thought I was in some other country other like Maine, not So Cal.

50.4 miles today. Temps in the upper 40's to low 60's with the wind coming from the NNE at 15 MPH. Beautiful day for a ride, the sun was shining mostly during the ride.

30 mile Tuesday club ride. My good friend got home from his tour in Afghanistan and rode with us today. It was great to ride with him, even if I was feeling a bit off today and couldn't hang with the group on the hills. Slowest ride I've done in the five weeks since I started back to doing this ride, but still quicker than what I was doing a few years ago.

Had a meeting at work that lasted too long. Rode on the trainer, did 20 min WU then 1.5 hrs @ Z3. The suffering wasn't so bad since I was watching the DVR's Paris-Roubaix race. Th hammering those guys do makes me feel wimpy.
