My Schwinn Super Sport DBX
Got in a 40 mile ride today. Absolutely beautiful day for a bike ride. I drive a school bus, southcoastal Delaware, today is the 8th of 11 day holiday break. I have been on a bike everyday. Today was the longest. Seven miles to Bethany Beach boardwalk, 13 miles north, crossed the Indian River Inlet bridge, continued on to Rehoboth Beach boardwalk. Headed back south to Bethany and then back to my house in Clarksville, DE. Had a bite to eat, took my dog out and finished some yard clean up from all the wind and rain we have had. It is 8:15 and I am ready for bed. Another ride tomorrow, I think my titanium Airborne Zeppelin, for a faster paced outing.

61 degrees in North Georgia today and able to get in 18 nice miles on my LOOK 585. By the time I got back to the car is was 64. Best of all, the non-stop torrential rains from the last week have stopped...until Sunday.

Longest ride for me yesterday, at 270km, having done 200 a couple of weeks ago. The last couple of hours in the dark with lights.

Did pretty well with eating/drinking/electrolytes. Still had the usual upper shoulder muscle pain on the right, but bearable.

The last hour I picked up the pace but had to keep telling myself to back it off a bit (I find that riding at night, I want to ride faster).

Explored some really cool back-roads/tracks. Some interesting old buildings out in the sticks.

Considering a 300km next week.

It's been snowing here for the last two months. Not much snow, but the temperatures never got far above freezing so the snow didn't melt between storms and the roads have been icy. I've only gotten 4 rides in this month, 2 on my MTB with studded tires. I took a 40 ride ride, it took over an hour longer to do this ride than it does on my road bike. Didn't help that I had a powerful and cold headwind coming home. I have a doctors appointment tomorrow so this will be my last ride of the year. on my MTB with studded tires. Only 4955 Miles for the year, 1100 miles less than last year. Would have been nice to get in that last 45 Miles.

Mid-30's but dry today so out for a modest 6 mile ride this afternoon.

I created a nice 38 mile ride our of our house with 2100' of climbing 4 years ago, but never rode it because it has some quite steep climbs and I just never thought we were up to riding it on the tandem. It happened that it didn't rain today, amazingly enough, and it was Sunday so low traffic, so we went out and finally rode it. We did fine, but can hardly walk this evening. There's a winter group ride with about the same stats next weekend which was the prompter. I wanted to be sure we'd be OK on that. So that's on then. A day's rest, a few more workouts this week and we'll be ready for it.

As perfect as Sat was, today was damp and dreary...but still pretty warm.

28 miles on the 31st, just to get that last ride of the year out of the way. Pleasant loafcycle around to see the holiday decorations before the HOA deadlines and Easter.

The wife and I took our RoadLites out on the Withlacoochee today. It was a perfect start to the new year, 70's and sunny. Guess we made the correct choice in moving from Maine to North Central Florida 8 years ago. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...591c9d9983.jpg

Saturday: 40 mile group dirt/gravel ride ...which, given the previous day's rain, was really a 40 mile mud/gravel ride
Sunday: 30 mile road ride with the missus
Monday: 30 mile road ride with a friend (this got my final 2018 mileage total to 6,908)
Tuesday: 40 mile group road ride on New Year's Day

I'm looking forward to riding the Withlacoochie during the Clean Air Ride in late March. May have to sneak up there to do some recon prior to the event.

Down here on the central Fla. coast (Brevard County) it was a bit warmer but still a nice day and good for a pleasant 30 mile ride. My route follows the Indian River the entire way, a wonderfully scenic ride, and glassy water in the River means a rare day with "light and variable" breezes. This ride is so popular that today I must have seen 50-75 riders, folks of all sizes and shapes and bikes and speeds. And oh yeah, throw in several dozen runners sharing the road and there was practically no room for cars!!!!

18 miles today on my very last day as a Bike Commuter. Monday is a PTO day and New Year's Day is the start of my retirement. Haven't been much of a cold weather commuter in recent years but have biked to work 4 times this December. Mother Nature cooperated today so that my final day at the hospital could be what my first day was 32+ years ago: a bike commuting day.

Congratulations! So, that's a stage completed and an achievement unlocked.

Tuesday evening a pretty good hill workout in the hood. Four miles as a warm up, then dinner, then hill intervals. Start at the house, up to the back, down to the side and continue around and up to the house, and then repeat until exhaustion, all standing because I don't have a replacement seat post yet. I'll be sore. 40F.

Central Indiana has been lucky to avoid winter storms thus far (knock on wood). January 1st was around 40F and dry. Rode west over the White River to Southwestway Park, which has nice MTB trails. No, I didn't ride on them. 14 miles.
Today got out for a short five miles in upper 30's.

Thanks. Feel fortunate to have been able to stop working on my own terms. Now gotta work on making up the 1500 bike commuting miles I rode last year!

First ride of 2019 this morning on probably my coldest ever ride.

Overlooked that on first reading - all standing would make for quite a workout.

Yes, but not as hard as a standing workout on a recumbent! :) So I had that going for me.

(I was able to rest while rolling by straight-legging one side and clamping the top bar between that and the other leg.)

I've ridden every day this year.........10 miles this afternoon. Sunny and right about 40F. Did not stand up on the pedals.

Looking at the pictures of the bikes in the snow makes me feel like a wimp. I ride 19 miles early this morning in 34 degree weather and shivered for two hours afterwards. I don't know how you folks in the colder climates do it.

JanMM 01-04-19 09:40 PM

19 miles today in very unwintry weather.

Couldn't see the spectacular view because the danged hill was in the way!

I got a very late start, but I ventured out on my roadbike as most of the snow and ice has melted. I might have gone further but 1/2 way out I realized I'd left my rear taillight on the MTB with studded tires. Just 23 miles on a 40*°+ day. I might go out tomorrow on a longer ride.

canklecat 01-04-19 11:26 PM

17 miles Friday night, first ride of 2019 (not counting indoor trainer spins). Chilly 39F but I wanted a last look at the holiday decorations. Good to see some folks still observing the tradition of waiting for Twelfth Night before deleting the Christmas spirit. In some neighborhoods they were taking down decorations by December 26.
