No, but I did get a new bike yesterday, so there's that. :) 1994 Trek 730, frame size 23 inch.

rando_couche 06-26-19 10:17 AM

Yep, after not having ridden since Saturday. 14 miles along the bay road (Yaquina Bay Rd, Newport OR), pre-breakfast with several bird sightings: 3 or 4 herons and between 2 and 4 kingfishers. Great way to start the day!

40 miles this morning on a repeating club ride with 15 others. Mostly flat country roads with 4 climbs over I-65. Two each way.

oldfatboy 06-26-19 12:43 PM

Hope I get as in good shape as you all are :)
Did 23.7 miles early this morning.
1st pic is looking back at part of town at 0615 and temp 44F

9.5 miles Tuesday morning, 9.8 miles yesterday evening. Two different loops of gravel roads, both peaceful and relaxing. Passed only 2 cars on Tuesday, and 3 yesterday leaving the miles of roads almost exclusively to me and my bike. Yesterday's ride was about 8pm to bypass the 90° high humidity daytime temp, about a half hour before sunset, just as the wild animals are starting to appear. Saw numerous deer grazing in roadside fields, and two small fox cubs exploring the sides of the gravel road. They didn't see me at first, being intent upon their exploration. It took a few seconds for them to catch sight and stare at me before they decided it would be best to jump into the underbrush and disappear before my bike reached them. No time for me to grab my phone for a photo. Maybe next time. Had to push a bit faster towards end of the ride to make it home by dusk. Legs are already feeling stronger.

Those scenes from your Alaska ride look so flat - not what I imagined!

Back on bike after 2 weeks

Was on a road trip to clear the soul and mostly my brain  did some short hikes now back on the bike. The rust has set in I need some oil. Start with a lolly gagging cruise then the mojo will return.

jppe 06-27-19 03:33 PM

50 miles with 2200’ of hills from noon-3 pm. 93 degrees with 70% humidity. And after walking 18 holes of golf this morning. Headed out to see the new movie Yesterday.

25 mile ride this morning from home to our south and back. Mix of suburban and rural roads. Several sets of fun rollers. Rode my ti long wheelbase 'bent, and spouse rode her Trek e-assist bike. Average today was 13.5mph, which is faster than our normal tandem rides on similar route, slower by 1-2 mph than my typical averages, and 2-3 mph faster than speeds on her Giant hybrid. She 's still learning to ride the new bike. Our goal is to ride together on single bikes regularly at speeds we both enjoy. Most of our riding together since about 2000 has been on a tandem. We are still riding a tandem but we are mixing it up with her new bike. She is able to catch up without difficulty after I blast down hills. Fun for both of us.

Began first segment of 41 miles at 12:35AM this morning but not really feeling the MOJO. Got home, showered and took a bit of a nap then back out at 7AM with MOJO found and got another 60 miles done.

31 miles out and back over Richter Pass. For me the fun starts where the hills begin. First time riding this route this year. Temperatures were perfect with only light winds. Couldn't ask for a better start to the day.

48 mile ride this morning to Shelbyville and back with 3 other guys who live on Metro Indy's southside. Pretty flat and lots of truly rural roads, some of which are in excellent condition!

It's pouring rain outside my window right now, which is why I got my retired self up and out before 9:30 AM. 21 miles This AM brought me to 400 for the year, so far.

I want to say you'll be ok. Big Hugs. You'll be fine. Hurt when you get home. That's coming from someone who doesn't want to get her bike dirty.

80 miles with 4800’ of hills. I got a late start so most of the ride was in 90+ degree temperatures. I probably used more water on my head and body than I drank.

59 miles, 6,000’ Central VT Cycling Tour (gravel ride). Well-organized annual event to raise $ to improve the Cross Vermont Bike Trail. Complimentary meal and maple creemee (soft serve) at ride’s end.

JanMM 07-01-19 08:32 PM

24 mile tandem ride this morning. One of our usual routes with nice rollers.
16 mile solo ride to downtown Indy and back to meet for discussion of club bike rides in support of the IndyCrit on July 13. No hills, rollers, etc.

On my usual morning ride this morning I decided to take a pic of a couple of my favorite sports all in one. The local football club wasn't practicing today so it was my chance. lol

Finally back on the bike just now after nine days of being down for maintenance. (Had to replace the chain, the rear cluster, the rear cones and balls.) I felt pretty good on this first ride back after time off, but as they say "the first one is free". 80F, 85% humidity.

Sorta busy weekend, at least for cycling:
Friday: 35 miles, including casual group ride.
Saturday: Napped, tuckered out.
Sunday: 55 miles (hard pace for me); nap; another 35 mile casual group ride.
Monday: Napped. Really tuckered out.

Just got home about a 1/2 hour ago... I am totally soaked in sweat so bad, I look like I jumped in a lake!!

Virginia has "infamous" weather where it appears to be relatively nice and around 82° around 9:30am. But then all of the sudden by about 10:00am, the temp soars to 92° out of nowhere!

Dummy me should have ridden my C&V '85 Fuji at 6:30 or 7:00am like most normal riders. *sigh* live and learn....

14.95 miles total in 1 hr, 1 min, in the morning heatwave.

Short ride up the hill today. Perfect weather for it, and the views seldom disappoint.

Not today. Picked up my newest bike this morning from the bike shop (went in yesterday for shifter adjustments plus an overall checkup) but it sat in the garage for the rest of the day while I worked elsewhere on the final of 3 days weeding and mulching gardens for an open house scheduled tomorrow. It was brutal outside - mid 90s. Virginia heat and humidity at its worst. Half the time the water from the garden hose was directed onto my head and body rather than the plants. I'll ride 10 miles on the gravel tomorrow morning when it is still cool enough not to die and the breeze doesn't feel like a blast furnace.
