No. I've been running around all week and I had to haul 30 14 oz. cans of cat food 3 miles home that weighed about 40 lbs. on a bike made for a 13 year old and I'm 40 years past that. Ouch and slap a Schwinn Airdyne sticker on that thing! I also had to make sure the super overloaded dumpster got emptied when the garbage came early Friday (thank God for top loading garbage trucks) and work on house cleaning etc plus everything else I do at the start of every month. The rain messes with my TV reception and Socks insists on going out anyway and I have naps now and then but it's funny how I don't FEEL 52, not until there are no cartoons on my TV anymore.
I enjoy sitting there with my cat on the bed a while though, whether the radio is on or not. And watching college age women play amateur golf was really nice but of no real use to me except for the fact that they were college aged women. What was that song about 'memory' with all the people dressed like cats? So not today, not yet. I told my practitioner I had all the healthy foods they recommend to help my poor kidneys...but it was a fajita salad...it's sad I can't marry the lady. |

Most excellent!

NOT YET !!! Getting ready to head out to ride today's One Day Cross Florida.
https://spacecoastfreewheelers.com/xfl/ Weather seems like it will be favorable, southeast winds with the rain hopefully holding off until finished. Temps approaching 90°F with humidity up there so plenty of water and no crazy pace. Our LBS has a GREAT CONTINGENT of riders so unlike previous 3 rides I'll have company until they drop me. GREAT GREEK FOOD awaits at the end and the SAG STOPS are also great. |
Got home a while ago from a beautiful 18.45 mile ride (with Strava enabled on my phone) to try it out. Excellent smartphone app!!! :D
Here's the proof from Strava: https://i.imgur.com/XKk9a7v.jpg Here's my old LG smartphone from Verizon clipped into a holder that I fastened down onto the steering stem: https://i.imgur.com/bsHZ8EI.jpg Lastly, my wife just took this photo of me in the backyard, as I just was going to park the bike by our outdoor patio: (Sorry... No "kit" for me. I'm proud to be "old school" and/or viewed as a Fred. I just wear what I wear... Black surfer shorts, lightweight sports shirt (from Richmond's 8K (5 mile) section of the Marathon that I ran a few years ago), and of course, a yellow safety vest, as I don't want to end up as another statistic in the news!) https://i.imgur.com/Fyj86Bt.jpg |
Last night, a great timed speed run to the greenway then a long loop up north to return. There's one hill that's just too steep (some day, maybe, but not yet) and I carried up that. 70F, evening into dusk, shorts and t-shirt, super nice.

I got out Saturday morning as the sun came up, 48*, 20.5 miles, and I about died. Not literally, but I massively bonked. Last year due to a couple of nagging medical issues, I only logged less than 700 miles in comparison to a seasonal average of near 2500 miles. The last of those rides before yesterday, were back in December @ 18 mi., and October @ 38 mi.
The last 3 miles were tough to keep moving and when I got back to my vehicle, I nearly passed out. Lucky for me I had a Clif Bar in the truck, it and 10 minutes later, I was able to drive away. Moral to the story, don't push so hard until I get some base miles behind me. |
29 mile club ride this afternoon on the tandem with my stoker. Day7 of #30daysofbiking . Warmish and a bit windy but dry.

35 mile/2,400’ Rt 100 out and back from Rochester to Warren VT, past all the weekend skiers taking the long way to the Interstate because of Mud Season. Made a couple of new biking buddies who shared the return leg. 50 degrees seemed like the perfect temperature. |
Very nice 23 mile solo ride from home and back this afternoon on Day 8 of #30daysofbiking .

I got in 65 minutes on a 80 degree, but very windy day. What is strange is the wind is out of the north and warm. Usually the northerly winds are cold.
My tires are still turning green from all the pollen in the air. |
23 mile tandem ride today on Day9 of #30daysofbiking . Beautiful spring day. |
Back in the land of MANY cars and few safe cycling roads. Going to be a real challenge find safe roads for serious long distance rides. 37 mi yesterday and ended up 10 mile from home with no safe way to get there. Had to call the Mrs.

Couple of rides so far this week on new-to-me late 1990s Trek 5900. 25 casual miles with friend for dinner Monday, 33 hard workout miles Wednesday with 20+ mph head and tail winds. I'm liking this bike. Doesn't really feel much different from my Centurion Ironman until climbs, then the lighter weight makes a difference. Just needs a few more adjustments to make my knees happy.
|
Finally back on training schedule. Long ride one day trainer next day. 15 mi @ 14 mph on trainer.
|
Got in 60 minutes on an extremely windy day. Looks like storms are in the near future forecast.
|
Just cold and way too windy morning ride. There are just some rides that aren't that fun and this was one of them.
|
Three rides in three straight days. Got in another 60 minutes today before the rain is supposed to arrive.
It was the maiden voyage of my shiny new Trek FX3 in Viper Red. Love it!. |
