No pictures, but I did ride today to hit my 200 mile goal for the month. 201 and change, 5k of climbing, and carting around far more of me than there should be. On a 10 day in a row riding streak.

I turned 66 yesterday and wanted to ride that in miles. I planned a 70+ mile loop on MUPs around Denver. I gathered a small group of fellow volunteers from the non-profit bike shop, some a bit older, some a bit younger. It was such an excellent day, we tacked on some options and ended up with 78 miles, smiling all the way. Even the wind cooperated. One of the options at the end of the day was a stop at a the home of a shop supporter who brews excellent beer. We dodged a small T-storm cell after that, just a few sprinkles that felt pretty good. The lightning added some spring to our tired legs. Our group of five sexagenarians averaged 14 mph in rolling terrain, about 2600' of climbing. There wasn't a single mechanical problem (we're all volunteer mechanics after all) or physical complaint, with a combined mileage almost 400, and combined age of 330 years! And nobody even thought to take a single photo.

I got out early this morning before the heat of the day came(we are expecting 90 degrees today) and got a nice ride in to start the day. The weather was cool at 60 degrees but with blue skies, and sunny it was nice to be out. Unfortunately, I didn't see any cool yard art like rsbob.

Just got back into riding more often last year after retiring and building a new house in 2019. Finished May off with a 38.2 mile ride to the ocean that's only 6 miles away. That gives me 280 miles and 12,000+ feet of climbing for the month. One 42 mile ride hit 2,411 ft of climbing. Can't seen to break out of that 13 MPH average range. The 70 year old body refuses to do what it did back in my racing days 48 years ago, plus I'm carrying an extra 25-30 pounds. That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it. Temp ranged from 91 down to 64 at the water.

Just a short 16 mile ride in the 90+ degree heat.

My first stop at this bench was was over 40 years ago on a Takara similar to this. It is still a nice little spot to sit in the shade and reminisce and be thankful I can still throw a leg over a 43 year old steel bike to get there.

Didn’t feel much like it today but went anyway and ended up enjoying myself. Did some new climbs and one 2.5 mile one with an 8% average. Resulted in some nice views.

Just ridin around familiar places.
The fruit stand has been open for a couple of months now. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...e9baf12d2.jpeg The grass is always greener (and taller) on the mowed side. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...c720d05d5.jpeg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...c3f05ddc1.jpeg This lady always has the greenest grass on a roadside of properties with dry weedy drainage ditches and blackberry bushes |

I love a ride with a little road, a little light gravel, cool temps, blue sky, no deadlines and a small river for company.

50 miles with 1500’ climbing. Temp was perfect in low 70s with a bit of wind.

I was able to ride to and from work at the assisted living . It’s been a few days of not riding due to having so much rain here.

June is the rainy season here in Japan. I've managed to get in 150km so far this month, my goal for June is 600km, but rain is forecast every day for the next week. I could probably ride a exercise bike at the gym, but I hate "indoor" riding.

I rode today. Kind of sobering when I thought about how a year ago today I was riding a century, had just finished my umpteenth half marathon and was running every morning with someone that would ultimately talk me into training for another full marathon. And then two cases of Covid later I'm riding loops around my neighborhood before church. I'm hoping for a better summer.

Yesterday I was hard pressed on time so stepped out the back door and climbed 2000’ in 5.75 miles. The steepest pitches ranged from 14 to 17%. It’s amazing how relatively easy a 10% section feels in comparison. Total mileage was about 11.5 including decents.
Today I had my eye on grabbing a Strava trophy on a short half mile climb rated at 8%. I rode it once before so had a vague recollection of the climb. Being 68, I know there is no way I could get the KOM but knew I could get a top 5. The climb immediately started at a 7 and had a small pitch at 11 then settled back to an 8 before leveling off at the summit. The climb went well and I did have more in the tank even with a heart rate of 175 but was not 100% sure of the summit so I held a bit back. Did the rest of the 30 mile ride with a couple of PRs on some rolling and flat sections, but felt happy that an old guy can still bang out a climb and get 3rd. No way could I go hard enough to move up to 2nd. Again, I am a big fish in a small pond, but will take what I can get. |
Not today, but yesterday, a gentle spin of 16km just to blow out the cobwebs after a day at the desk. I took the opportunity to move my saddle back about 1 cm and it is noticeably more comfortable.

I got in a very short ride today due to a few factors. But after starting out on a very humid day, I decided my time would be better spent getting a manicure today, and having a longer ride home tomorrow. Just rearranging my schedule to better suit the weather.

I'm just getting back to riding after a 6 years break due to health reasons. I am back to the point that I can do 10 miles a ride half way easy. Today I went to a short trail close to the house to test ride a bike I haven't road in a couple of years after a couple of adjustments I did 3 miles on my old Raleigh Sports. . Something old skool cool with an English 3 speed
I have the original tires and saddle for this bike https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...723d56f1c6.jpg |

Rode an oldie today and re-learned that 52/42 is a hard crank to turn, 30 cogs out back saved me. The trip to daughter’s is always good. Today = classically sublime in lovely cool (60s) temps.

I was able to get out this morning and do a short 15 mile ride. I say this because I didn't sleep well last night and didn't want to ride. I told myself I wouldn't be happy if I didn't ride so get out and if you are unhappy then come home. So I was happy for 15 miles, I stopped in at the local farm stand and got some fruit. So all in all it was a good ride.

I got out and rode my bike to work and back. I was planning a longer ride home until my daughter called me and let me know my granddaughter was having a pre-k graduation party today. So I rode straight back to my car to get the the graduation on time.
