Commute? ride

On holiday this week and I said I would accompany my Son-in-Law (Ross) on his commute to work. Only 10 miles but I needed a ride in any case. 8am and we were off. That month of commuting has paid off well for Ross and it was a 6 mile sprint to pick up his work mate en- route.Picked him up and they asked if it was going to be a gentle ride in or a fast one. Put it this way- I do not want to do one of their fast ones- The pair of them towed me for 3 miles before I said "BYE-I am going for a coffee." Got to the cafe to find that I had done the trip in 33 minutes. Fastest I have ever done it in was 41 minutes- so either I have to get fitter or stop playing with the fast boys.
Got to the cafe and I was too early so a ride to the bank and a chance to take a pic of a view that I do not show you. The cafe is shielded from the sea by a wall so not much to see- here is a pic of the seafront from the other side of the wall and the Coffee and Eccles cake (Mince covered with flaky pastry so could count as Pie with fruit and pastry)

Called in at the LBS to order some new pedals but also bought a couple of things aswell but then off to a flat ride. Out across the marshes and as I say- this is flat and on back roads. Must have done about 5 miles without seeing anything then then had about 5 bikes as singles in the space of a mile. The centre pic shows Herstmoncieux which has a Castle and also had the Astonomy Centre based there till they moved it to Cambridge. Still one of the Telescope Domes that still dominates the Horizon

But then the Marshes- Plenty of wild life- in fact it was probably mad at me for disturbing them as although I only saw the occasional bird- there was plenty of glimps of something moving in the undergrowth. Couple of tamer species and thousands of sheep- just too far away to get any pics- but The swans posed well- just to show we have them over here aswell. The grassland here is not that good so Mainly sheep and the occasional bunch- can't call it a herd- of Beef steers getting ready for market. These will soon be ready for the B-B-Q.

Didn't realise it but I was about to pass one of my favourite houses. One that I would love to buy. It is in the middle of nowhere with no neighbours in site. But the surrounding countryside makes up for that.

So a fantastic morning ride taking in the Flora and Fauna of the marshes- just wish I hadn't started the ride off with such a sweat fest.

Beautiful pictures. I didn't realize you lived that close to the sea.

Bikes: Bikes??? Thought this was social media?!?

Having been married to an English lass from Folkestone I spent quite a bit of time in Kent. Many years later I worked for a company out of Havant and traveled to the home office at least quarterly for 5 years. You live in one of the nicest places in the world (for lots of reasons). Seems so many years ago........
