Imminent.

As some of you may know- I am about to become a grandfather for the second time. Everything is arranged- Had a ride planned for last saturday so I would be free to help out on the babysitting front but had to cancell that due to daughter No 2 being in ER. She does have type 1 diabetes and the first she knew of it was early in the morning when she had a Hypo. So ride cancelled and NO PIE RIDE either. Did that on sunday.

Then at around 2pm today I got the phone call for Daughter No1- the Waters have broke. So it is on its way. 5pm and I went round to see if I was needed for babysitting or other errands and the daughter wanted a KFC. OK== The intention was good- quick snack to see us through the evening so 4 meals ordered- paid for and taken home. One meal missing--Guesss who's- The imminent mother and she did not want anyone elses meal so back to KFC and give them a blasting. This is a frequent occurence and you can guess how much of a blasting they got as I was now going to have cold chicken and fries.

The daughter was now appeased and time to make the second call to the maternity unit at the Hospital. No contractions yet so " Can you wait till the morning as we have no spare beds"

Does any one know how to get a Pregnant Mum down off the ceiling as I think this was the final straw for her.

I'll let you know how the Event goes but I won't be going- I' ll take the easy job of babysitting Ferne. but as I left- Son-in-Law asked me to ride on Sunday. He has got some mods to make to his bike and he needs a shakedown ride before his first TT the following week.. At least he timed that right.

Have you tried more KFC?

I once went to KFC and they screwed up our order also. I gave them a bit of a blasting too and was rewarded with a free meal for six redeemable at any time. The free meal was my final KFC meal, the one they screwed up had been my first KFC meal.

Enjoy your babysitting job!

I'm pretty sure that employee was sent off to the UK somewhere...to the southeast of England, I believe.

But seriously, stapfam, here's hoping all goes well for both daughters and you get your ride in as well.

I assume that your avatar picture is grandchild #1. I'm also assuming that grandchild #2 will be just as cute.

My father just became a great-grandfather for the first time -- my middle nephew's wife just bore the first baby girl in 4 generations in my family (my father is one of two boys, I am one of two boys, my brother has three sons, and I have two sons). Estella Rose is not likely to get spoiled or anything ...

Parent Sean and Rachelle are ecstatic, although Rachelle's mom and sisters were hoping for a boy after a long string of girls in their family.

Have to admit that "WHEN" I feel like a KFC- I Enjoy it. Long enduring rides that I have trained for weeks for- eating the right food- training hard and then Doing the event that has taken all the resources out of me--And I NEED a KFC. All that grease and fat with a better flavour than a Mc D. does me a power of good.

And update on Grandson. Daughter went to the Hospital at 7am this morning and was sent home. Got home- had a cup of tea and it was then a mad rush to get back down there at 1 pm as things have finally started. Just hope it's not a false alarm.

And it will be bike related now as There is no car available for me to use. I'll have to go to a local hostelry and get some beer in. I've run out of Spitfire and if I am going to celebrate- I am going to do it right. No champagne as daughter doesn't like it but just put a couple of bottles of white Bordeaux in the fridge that I know she can tolerate. Just wondering if I had better put another couple in as after 9 months without drinking- Two might not be enough for her.

My mom has 8 grandchildren, and as she has said, if she had known it was so much fun, she would have done it before motherhood!

Best wishes for all.

More details now. His name is Oakley and he weighed in at 9lbs 12ozs. Looks like I am going to have to start looking for a 60cm frame for him. They said he was big- but going by the photo of him and his Granny- he is also long. Just like his dad.

Oakley..jpg

Mother and son are staying in hospital for another 24 hours or it may be 36 depending on staffing levels and Bed space at the Hospital. Knowing my luck and my daughter-I may get a phone call at 4am tomorrow to go and collect them
