A good case for CO2:thumb:

So you are saying you look like Bill Murray operating the golf-ball washer in "Caddyshack"?

I'm lucky I guess, because I get flats often and have become quite adept at repairing them. Topeak Road Morph pump gets me up to max pressure. It's the only pump I use since ever since the gauge on my floor pump quit working. I usually patch on the spot, but swapping out with a spare tube would be quicker and the punctured tube can be patched after the ride. I always carry spare tube and patch kit because sometimes you get more than one flat and sometimes the flatted tube is irreparable by patching. Pump only, no CO2. Pump can be reused, empty CO2 canister must be safely disposed of, and a new one must be purchased.

Paying for air is a violation of the principles upon which this nation was founded. Give me free air or give me death.

Have you ever paid for hard water...........otherwise known as ICE**********

Tires are slicks, no treads, lots of little notches where little things hav tried to get through. Original tires on the Roubaix.

I have purchased ice but not recently. I am car free and only carry water, frozen or otherwise. when paid to do so. I have been paid to transport bottled water many times, but I always resent it.

Me too. I was trying to find out how he made THAT happen. But so far, no response.

I guess it was just dumb luck, but I really have not had a flat for that long........but now that I have had one, I am a bit paranoid about another happening.

Man, that is a helluva run of luck. Darn - I thought you had some secret trick we needed to hear about.

I consider flats as "rest stops!" :)

Where have I heard that before?

Well, I'd say my bike hung from the rafter in my garage for 6 1/2 years. I'm pretty lucky as far as flats go.

Except when I get flats.

Please don't let the flat gods think I am boasting. Every time I get sucked into one of these threads I just KNOW I'm tempting them to really mess with me.

I have been there. Don't want to go back. Flats are not "rest stops" in 95F and 95% or if the sandflys and mosquitoes are out to play.

As for the pump / CO2 debate, I have no problem with getting 110lbs in my tire with my Topek Pocket Rocket, but it takes a while. If I am on a solo ride or out with a few friends, that's what I carry and that's fine.

If am on a training ride with a group, it just seems like common courtesy to have CO2, so I'm not holding up the group any longer than necessary. One group's 'no drop' policy is "You have five minutes to repair your flat and then we're on our way..."
