Bicycling Singers/musicians or Singing Bicyclers/musicians, anyone?
I know several of us are singers in a group, or solo, of one sort or another. Also, I would guess that there are several folks here who sing or whistle while bicycling.

I only left because my work schedule simply was too difficult to work around. If that situation changes, I'll join back up with them.

In the photo on the YouTube link I am in the 2nd row, fourth from the left. The fellow on the extreme left hand side on the first row is the other (road) cyclist in the group, a 2nd tenor and a young guy, who can ride rings around me.
Southern Rail is outstanding!!!
We sing an arrangement of Sixteen Tons similar to that performed by the Queensmen, and I enjoyed listening to them as well.

For 25 years I was an opera singer - Mozart (think I've sung every baritone & bass role in Figaro); lots of French repertoire; a fair amount of Verdi, and Puccini (esp. Madama Butterfly). When I retired I returned to cycling and have joined a small church ensemble singing polyphony and other good things. No YouTube clips as yet but maybe I should start pestering them to do a few.

I sometimes sing while riding or walking, but only when I'm pretty sure no one can hear it. (As a kid I apparently sang incessantly, and was always getting in trouble for doing it. I've never really gotten over that; I tend to freeze up if anyone listens.) Mostly I sing traditional folk songs from various countries, or stuff I make up myself.

Had to get into Playing the Guitar for Ferne--The GD. Problem is that I am 30 years out of practice and it is a 12 string that cuts the fingers tremendously.

Interesting thread. I'm a former professional musician with a master's in composition, but now I'm a 6th grade teacher. My gigging days are over I'm afraid. I still play guitar at home, piano at school, and lead the school choir. It's fun. I've always wished I could bring a guitar on tour, but never seriously enough to actually do it. Hmm. Maybe someone could organize a musician's bike tour - a travelling jam session. My, wouldn't that annoy the neighbors in campgrounds!

I've always thought opera and cycling really complement each other. One of my life ambitions is to see performances in all the world's great opera houses, riding my bicycle in the vicinity of each, or riding between opera houses. I've never felt like doing the singing, though. I leave that to the pros!

Wow, impressive! And except for Cherubino (the mezzo-soprano "trouser" role), ALL the major guys in Figaro are baritones (or bassos)! (Well, there are a couple of tenors but the roles are so small you don't notice them..). And I just love the baritone Sharpless in Butterfly; the only guy in the opera with a conscience!
