Completed my first century!!
Finished my first season of riding with the Harvest Century today, it was also
my first sponsored ride. All I can say is WHEW, that was a loooong day
The ride seemed pretty well attended, I found it enjoyable just to watch the
wide diversity of riders. Up until now my longest had been 65 or so, by the time
I got to 75 I was sure I couldn't do it but thanks to a good friend who hung in
there and kept encouraging me along I did it! Thanks Tony if you happen to read
this
Next year I hope to do Cycle Oregon.
Cheers,
Jack

Well done! My first century was "accidental" -- I was on my first long tour and hadn't planned to ride such a long way on this particular day, but I had a tailwind, felt good and accommodation was a bit sparse where I was.
I was beat at the end, but I felt good as in satisfied, and, of course, it lives long in my memory, as I am sure yours will. I've lost count of the actual number of done since, but it's around 100, I think.

Don't worry about the long day- Today will be shorter with the lie in you deserve and will hopefully take.
Don't forget to drink today and as you won't be doing a great deal except the recovery ride--It can include a few cold ones.
Well done on the ride but Pics required

Thank you all for the kind words. Sorry that I don't have any pictures, its
not something that I normally think about, although the wife took a couple
shots of me at the finish line, I'll post that when I can get my hands on it

Jack,
Congratulations on your first 100!

Didn't it turn out to be a great day for a Century?!? I backed off from the hundred a few weeks ago to ride the 45 with my wife, and we had a wonderful time (my summer goal was to do a Century, and did it in August on Covered Bridge Tour)! Next year, we'll do the 100!
Maybe I meet you on Cycle Oregon - I hope to go in 2012, and my wife has it on our mutual calendar for 2013.
And Harvest Century is definitely on our calendar for the foreseeable future! (We live in Albany, so, doggone it, had to stay two nights at the Grand Lodge in Forest Grove).
Congratulations on your first 100!

Congrats! My first and only century was the Seagull Century in Maryland two years ago. I had an emotional couple of minutes at about 85 miles because I knew that I could make it if I didn't fall.

Welcome to the century club. All the more special in that you overcame that moment of doubt.
Now, what is this business about finishing your season of riding?
