Beverly, that is great news! Hang in there Iron Lady!
I can really sympathize with you. I had breast cancer 10 yrs ago. Stage 2. 6 months of aggressive chemo. The protocol was called ACT. The AC portion looked like orange koolaid and the nurse said if it spilled on your skin it would eat a hole in it. I lost all my hair and got a bad "hang over" complete with nausea a day or two later. Also experienced some fatigue. But my Drs said I tolerated it very well.
When it came to the T (taxotere) protocol in the 2nd 3 months, they said "You did so good on the AC, you will have no problem with the T"
Famous last words.
The Taxotere almost killed me. Slowly. I lost any remain hairs, and all my toe nails and finger nails. My eyes sunk into dark pits. I looked like Uncle Fester (Addams Family) I got Peripheral neuropathy, a condition common to diabetics where, although you have nerve damage, you experience all kinds of weird sensations in you hands and feet. My hands are ok now, but my feet still hurt 24/7.
I got so weak, I called it "crap and nap." The effort to go to the head was so exhausting I would have to nap afterwards. My oncololgist skipped my final treatment as she did not think I would survive.
I was given the choice of 3 months of radiation or a bilateral mastectomy. I chose the latter.
I am glad to hear you are doing so well. I pray your radiation experience will go as well.
Hang in there! And start taking 5,000 units of vitamin D daily!

Treatment #5 was last Wednesday and as usual the side effects have been minor but uncomfortable. I’m looking forward to the last treatment in a couple weeks and I can leave behind the funny tasting food, bloating and a few other annoying side effects.
I was able to ride Friday and Saturday for a total of 15 miles. This gives me 930 miles for the season and I’m aiming for 1,000 miles for the year. I just hope the weather cooperates and I can make my goal.
My oncologist has indicated I can start the radiation as soon as possible after the last chemo since I haven’t had any major problems. Hopefully the center can get everything coordinated and I can get started on the next phase of this journey.
Only 15 more days to the last chemo
