Pie week on NPR has been very interesting.
In honor of pie week and, of course, for the family 4th of July BBQ (which looks like it will be an indoor BBQ because of the rain), I made a cherry pie.
Can she make a cherry pie? Yes I can, yes I can.

AFE,
My family geneaology has my Scottish heritage listed, I can't remember everything. I do remember that the ancestor that crossed to America was named Argyle Taylor and I had a service look up my family tartan. I have a tie in the pattern. Born and raised in Florida, just proud of my Scottish heritage and study Scotland and England for their history and my roots. Also a member of The Brotherhood of St. Andrew at our Episcopal church. where are you located in Scotland, if I might ask?
Bill

Now you mention that name, I think I know his cousin - R Dean Taylor
If you pronounce my username with a Scottish accent, you'll get it - "I'm from Edinburgh"

Great Scott! They DO sell Digestive Biscuits here now!
In a nod to the Scots in this thread, they sell genuine Scottish Shortbread cookies here too!
Banoffi Pie, here I come!

Thats one great looking cherry pie, my favorite. I like it with some ice cream too.
Rain in your neck of the woods on the 4th and also here in the Arizona desert, although we have no plans for a picnic. Phil.

That looks magnificent!!! (Drool, slurp, slobber)
All,
I love the quote from David Mammet, "We must have a pie. Stress cannot exist in the presence of a pie." This would almost be a suitable rival for the 50+ forum motto of "Dulcius ex asperis" = "through difficulty, sweetness"

I think if everyone looks hard enough, there'll be some Scottish blood in their family tree somewhere - ain't it great! As soon as a Scotsman invented the bike, we were all over the place. The next best invention after that was also by a Scot - the pneumatic tyre.

Lots of Scottish heritage for me. My ancestor that came over form Scotland was Argyle Taylor and the Taylor and Scott families make up a big chunk of my fraternal grandmother's genealogy, therefor mine too. I love to study Scottish history, I have my families tartan in a dress tie and our crest in a tie pin. Lots of interesting Scottish PIES to choose from that I have discovered, yummmm.

My first wife was born in Scotland, crossed the pond at age 10. She didn't have a detectable accent unless she was with her family, then she sounded like she was fresh off the boat. She was from Edinburgh, and I learned to distinguish accents from there compared to other parts of the country.
Her dear late mother was a real sweetheart, but her speech was so thick, I often needed an interpreter, and about 3 times in every sentence, she's refer to some guy named Ken. Never did figure out who Ken was.

So this lady tourist was in Edinburgh taking in the sights when she spots a Scotsman dressed in traditional attire. Out of genuine curiosity, the lady asked, "sir, if I may ask, what is worn under the kilt?"
To which the Scot replied," Madam, it's nae worrn. It's all in verra gud condition."
