Bikes: Too Numerous (not)

Maybe an airbag vest... I'm thinking that may cause more harm than it prevents. Tough to pull the extremities inside the airbag protection zone --especially while straddling a bike and holding handlebars. Pads only stop contusions/abrasions not breakage from dislocation. Maybe if you launch the subject airborne briefly to allow deployment of a safe airbag cocoon. ..stop me anytime.

I'm 56. Last year was my first year riding. This spring, 3rd ride of the season I fell and broke my hip. I was lucky. No surgery was required. I couldn't wait for the 6 weeks to pass so that I could get back in the saddle. I've managed 500 plus miles since the fall including a 50 mile jaunt last weekend. As with most of life ....I guess it all depends on your attitude.

I know you like yours, but I have a hard time recommending a bike that has ashtabula cranks. Or that comes in your choice of 1 or 3 speeds. If seat height is an issue, then almost any delta trike will sit higher.

When you ride an semi-recumbent trike such as the Worksman PAV there is no need for any other cranks or more speeds since this trike is built for slow steady riding if you don't want to tip over!!

The PAV is not a racing trike like the pavement scrapers you ride. No, the PAV is for slow steady fun for those who enjoy plain simple cycling fun.
