Vertical Bob has a small group riding into the local mountains, I could join them, or there is a club ride of around 50 miles.

Hi, my wife will drop me off 40+ miles from my parents' house. Hopefully when I arrive everyone will be busy cooking.

I usually overplan bike rides on the weekend. Today I plan to toodle a little bit. I'm going to head down to DC, and take the Capital Crescent Trail as far as it goes, and then run up Beach Drive, and back through Rock Creek Park. Depending on the mood I'll probably head out to Mt Vernon.

Happy Thanksgiving to all our American friends. Just another day up here with our turkey day weeks in the past.
Definitely a ride in the plans though, with sunshine and mid 50s temps forecast for this afternoon.

Just finished. Five people, four bikes, 37 miles and change. Cloudless skies, 47°F at the start, 58°F at the finish, with a light breeze from the south. All in all, an excellent ride here on the North Coast.

45 miles of gravel along the Des Plaines River on Thanksgiving morning. 21 riders at the start. I joined the faster group and hung on for 45 minutes, at that point I stayed 100 yards back. Within five munutes, two riders would make contact and go down hard. After seeing that everyone was OK, the group got smaller and I rode another two hours.

I held a road-cycling pace on narrow gravel for more than 30 miles. The last 30 minutes I just cooled down.

I have to let y'all down and bag this year's turkey day ride. I am having a bad adverse reaction to a third antibiotic in 6 days. Elevated HR and BP, and nausea/vomiting every day, especially in early mornings, since I started the bug killer last Tuesday, 13 Nov 12, and my on-line research, on all three, is that they are contra-indicated for kidney disease. Spoke to surgeon's office on-call yesterday and he changed the Rx, started the new Rx and my HR/BP are even higher. I didn't take them this morning since my heart rate/rhythm is getting tachy and I am real dizzy when I stand up, even slowly. I'll have to call the surgeon's office tomorrow morning and see what they want to do. Not riding 2 days in a row is bugging me badly, Our daughter goes back to Atlanta tomorrow so riding together got washed out too. No pie for me today, don't feel like having any.

Hope everyone's Thanksgiving was a super one and y'all had lots of great family time and food.

Bill

32.5 miles alone combining streets and MUP. Sunny and 55 deg F. Wind 10-30 mph. Not epic but good enough for post ride napping and foolball.

Happy TG to all.

How long would a long 15 miler be?

No riding today except inside - 45 minutes to the joy of Coach Troy and all his Clydesdale friends. Then a 1.5 mile walk, which is really great as my tendonosis seems to be healing!!

35 miles this morning before the onset of the food frenzy. Perfect conditions for a ride. Traffic on the highway was not bad. I'm glad the ride occurred before the food. Currently suffering from food coma. Great day.

It was my year to host Thanksgiving, so no ride today, but I'm going to try and get a quick road ride in tomorrow morning. I had wanted to go to the annual Turkey Burner mountain bike ride but I've got a craft fair on Saturday that I have to get ready for and, as much as I'd love to, I can't spend all morning out riding in the woods.

I did about an hour of singletrack riding on the MTB this morning before the feast. I'll ride about 35 miles on the roads with a couple of friends tomorrow afternoon. Expecting sunny skies and 75 F tomorrow.

I did ride but only a short one on the MUP this evening because of a broken toe. It wasn't that painful though, a good ride.

Bill,
I hope you start feeling better soon. Mort is not riding this weekend as he is in St. Louis and Mort's bikes are in Wichita.

This is really a gut-wrench for me, because we saw you only a few days ago. I hope keeping you up past midnight the other night, trading stories, isn't part of the adverse reaction.

Other than that, Machka and I were able to join in with a real American Thanksgiving today, with a 20-mile ride (see, I'm using imperial measure, too), in and around the city of Lake Charles, LA, then Thanksgiving dinner with Machka's brother and his American wife, and their delightful kids. Turkey, and pumpkin and pecan pies abounded.

Bear in mind, pumpkin in Australia is a vegetable that normally would be on the plate with the turkey and other trimmings. So pumpkin as a dessert was surprisingly delicious! And I will never turn down pecan pie -- it's my all-time favourite pie.

I put in a few miles along the Arkansas River on my bent. It's the first time I've had a chance to ride the bent in 3 months, so it was a nice change. The River Trail was barely populated, and temps were in the mid '70s. After that, a shower and a nap rounded out the afternoon.
