Bill....hope you get it sorted out and start feeling normal soon. About 6 yrs. ago I had what everyone told me was a heart attack. Was taken out of the local hospital and sent to Hartford, CT for angiogram and spent 3 days in the cardiac unit. Turns out it was a "spasm" and there's nothing wrong with my heart. BUT...they gave me a toxic brew of meds that damn near killed me. My Cardiologist said, "Why don't you stop taking one of them and see if that helps? If not stop another one until you find the one that's causing the problem." I said, "Why don't I just stop taking all of them since I didn't have a heart attack?" and, that's what I did. Been healthy ever since.

Yesterday (TG) the weather in Ann Arbor was great! Mrs. Road Fan and I went out she on her Terry and me on my Mondonico, and went on a hilly urban loop, about 14 miles, 12.7 mph average. For once I paced myself well. With her weight loss thru the Spring and Summer, she is again kicking my butt on the road without effort. Gonna have to spend the winter on the trainer!

I am feeling much better now. The BP is still elevated but the HR is normal, for me, when I took the readings this morning. Still a little dizzy but the bug killer is washing out of my system and I have stepped up cleaning up the wound on the abdomen so no additional infection can rear its head. Luckily it is not the MRSA, this time it is a staphylococcus skin flora bacteria according to the lab cultures, very mild if it is taken care of. I well may ride by tomorrow if things are good. I'll gather my morning BP/HR data and see how the dizziness is doing. No nausea this morning and that was much welcomed.

Things will be fine, I have faith in this. Rowan, this was starting last week, you and Machka were so welcome and we had such a great time talking and having some Pecan Pie. Our daughter asked after you both yesterday, she was sorry she was out when we took the pictures. We would love to see you both and any other BF members here any time. Thanks everyone for your concern, don't sweat my little thing, We have so many blessings this is not even worth a radar blip.

Ride Lots and Ride Safe,
Bill

An inch of rain at least today with SSW 15 knot wind. Maybe the rollers. Outside not happening.

Didn't get to ride yesterday due to work (I work in a hospital and chose to work the holiday) so I rode today about 38 miles with 15mph avg. Temp was 45 when I started but the only thing that got cold were the ends of my fingers. It was a wonderful day to ride in central Florida. BTW I did have my pumpkin pie this afternoon.

One of the neat things about this for was being able to spend a few days in Plymouth, in south-west England, in October, gaining an appreciation for what happened leading up to and after the settlement of North America by the Pilgrims.

Then we've been here to be a part of the Thanksgiving celebrations which, I understand, grew out of those early hardships.

We did all the usual things in Plymouth -- the Mayflower Steps, and the Mayflower Museum, plus lots of walking around the waterfront, and a cruise that included the Royal Navy's shipyards.

And of course, we've been in Florida, Alabama and Mississippi where the cotton harvest is just about completed.

We also did a sobering drive to and bicycle ride today through Cameron, on the Lousiana coast, that has been hit so hard by successive hurricanes, one really bad one in the 1950s that killed more than 300 people -- including one man whose body was found 30 miles away in Lake Charles -- and then more recently Rita and Isaac that finally reduced the town by over two-thirds.

I could relate to the remnants of houses and shops as we rode through, because so much of it was like after the 2009 bushfires back where we live in Victoria, Australia.

It was a somewhat sombre ride for me, and probably put into even better perspective the idea behind Thanksgiving...

Had a great ride on the bike path along the Potomac with my brother in law from just north of Mount Vernon to the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, the new King Memorial, the Basin and along the Reflecting Pool...perfect/cool weather...rode a little over 31 miles.

There were quite a few people on the bike path between Alexandria and into DC, not so many on the way back.

There was a nice variety of bicycles on the path...df's, recumbents, and tandems.

Great day for a ride before dinner!

Well I guess late is better than never, or something like that. I had my first ride in a week today, last one was with our daughter on Monday a week ago. The BP and HR were in the normal range I am usually at when I took the data down this morning. BP=128/79 (still a bit high) and HR=62, went to 84 during the low effort ride and returned to 64 in around 30 minutes.

It was a great feeling to get out and ride in the mild temperature today, 65*F when I rode, 38*F this morning. No wind to move me around and moderate humidity, it does not get much better. No Pie afterwards as I am really nervous about my diet while I am having the problems. I get the lab numbers tomorrow at my regular 3 month check up, I'll know if I have done any more kidney damage, hopefully not. And yes, I did notify the surgeon's office about the DX of the antibiotics and all the data I had collected was relayed to them.

Bill
