OK... Well, here goes...
In ADDITION to wearing underwear under my bike shorts -- and then pants over the bike shorts... (I guess I left that last part out in my first confession...)... I ...
.. and this is hard to admit (sob) ...
I opened up the treadmill yesterday and I have switched over...
... The bikes are staying warm and safe and clean in the basement instead of out in the snow and the cold (and, by the way, so am I...)

Indeed, fear not the path to fixed gear. It shalt give thy increased strength and endurance on hills and bringeth forth a smooth and beautiful pedal stroke. Forgeteth not that thy needs to keep pedaling to avoid bruising of the butt.
And welcome Deacon Europa to the Temple of the Fixed Gear (one of the several "alternative" denominations we have here).

probably faster than you think. One of the great joys in my life is a ride on my fixie on a warm summer evening. If there is some haze in the
air, that makes it even better. When night does come, everything looks like the set of a Ridley Scott movie. I DO like the way that guy makes a
movie.

Today is one the rare Thursdays I have to make the Louisville Loop 50 and I didn't go because it was too cold. I bought baselayer woollies yesterday and even set out my cycling clothes. I'm such a wuss. Don't anyone talk to me.
