selle anatomica tension screw

I noticed some sagging in my Selle Anatomica, which I've had for a few months. Should I tension, or are these like Brooks saddles--stay away from the tension screw?

I've got one on my touring bike. As long as the saddle is not bottoming out on the seat rails you are good to go. You don't want adjust it like a Brookes. Do that and you'll run out of adjustment relatively quickly and ruin the saddle. Al

I've got about 300m on mine now, since the beginning of the year. I've had noticeable sag in mine and adjusted it twice now, just a tad the first time and about a turn and a half a few days ago. Made a good difference in my ride, less pressure on my genitals. Hope it stays settled although I'm nowhere near the middle of the screws adjustment range yet. Had a ride a couple days ago where I never even noticed my saddle, first time for that.

One question about the saddle setback adjustment. Maybe I'm not understanding it right but I read it recommending the nose of the saddle plumb with the BB centerline. With my rails in the center I'm a good 5cent. back on both bikes. There's no way I can get close to that metric with even the long adjustment range of the SA saddle. I'm loving the ride so I've ignored it but wondering about others experience of that adjustment recommendation.

Sag should only be adjusted if the saddle becomes uncomfortable, as I understand it. If, you've no discomfort, let it be. However, if you have adjust only one turn at a time.

Look at their website - there is a .pdf file with instructions on how to adjust/install the saddle.

Yes, and it is far different from what you guys have been saying AND from the Brooks instructions. There's height, setback, tilt, tension, rotation (nose left or nose right) and handlebar height. All of those have to do with saddle comfort, according to the S/A instructions.

One thing, the leather is radically different from that on a Brooks. The tension screw is made to be tuned to adjust the tension of the leather and even the shape (really, it's pressure distribution) of the saddle. It's far less susceptible to permanent damage due to tensioning the leather and then loosening it back down.

I have a Selle Anatomica and a Brooks B17, and I have to say I like the Brooks better. The key to a Brooks is getting the Handlebar height about even with the saddle. Anyway, I may do a few more rides to confirm, but I'm torn between selling the Selle Anatomica on Ebay and keeping it for a backup if the Brooks gets wet.

Can you grab the nose of the saddle and easily rotate it? If so, then it's probably loosened up, and can be backed-out a quarter-turn or so (counter-clockwise as you look at the saddle nose-first).

All my current bikes are equipped with Selle An-Atomica saddles, and I find that once I find the "sweet spot," I leave the tension as-is.

Don't you mean "when" the Brooks gets wet?
