Bikes: Bikes??? Thought this was social media?!?

Saddle time is down this summer!
House repairs.

Feeling like the Tennessee Ernie Ford song, '16 Tons', with this downspout drainage dig-out, 3.5 - 4' below ground level.

To stay 'thread relevant', recovery drink = Newcastle Brown Ale.

No posts in 2 months?
Better put something up, lest we lose this ?venerable? sticky.

When contemplating new tires for the 'zero' bike, it's always best to have a cool one. And when the only beero offered is Bud Lite (p'tooie) at least it includes its' own twist. No bad on a warm, 80°, Arkansas Fall afternoon. Beside the pool, I might add.

Like WildWood, my saddle time dropped by quite a bit this year. Root cause was the combination of a creakier than usual body and a few weeks of walking through soybean fields hand pulling weeds after which the desire to do much more than make love to the sofa disappears. Its the 1st time since 2005 that I've taken an extended break from the bike. It has felt odd, truth be told, but probably not the worst thing to happen. I'm hoping to be be rejuvenated by next seasons start.

I'm going for a ride today but in the combine and not on the bike. My friends has a passenger seat in it and I find it quite relaxing to watch the corn going through the head. Additionally, his wife is a great cook so I'll invite myself out in time for lunch.

Like the Summer's Fine Wines, have stored the Classics

Pull out the mountain bike time.

My most classic lugged steel bikes, those fully built (still processing the Zeus), will see zero miles during ski season, and are pictured below the '91 Fisher SuperCaliber. A couple of 'lesser' roadies may see duty if weather goes dry and not frostbitten.

The Batavus is pictured before final build, and has not had a proper shakedown.

last edit: The Calfee is a lugged and gusseted carbon fibre bike (not vintage) - it won't likely get ridden much either.

Bikes: Bikes??? Thought this was social media?!?

Getting close to Christmas.
So here's my holiday gift tip.

Everybody needs a jersey you can wear into the bar, uh, I mean - Pub.
In the summer, as it's polyester. Appears to have that Polo shirt look.
I ordered one today. Available in black or light blue.
Not affiliated.
Have not received it yet, so also not an endorsement, but I have wool jerseys from this company that are good.

Wool Cycling Jerseys

edit update: Seems well made. XL is truly XL, maybe should have ordered L.
2 rear pockets with buttons.

With a forecast of moderate volcanoes, I ventured into the mountain bars.

The helmet is back on this time. Helmets seem to be de rigueur this season.

A day of sliding

than a day of riding
in the winter wet
During the Sun's respite.

The winter daylight hours are bad enough here in Seattle, I know Alaska is not in my future. The wife really needs 2 vacations in a warm climate during winter. I encourage her to go and manage quite well with the skis, hikes, bikes and walking the dog. December and January have each had spots of decent biking weather. 48* this morning and dry so another ride for me today! Hooray!

Any of you guys guitar players?

I love to play my Gretsch acoustic, any chance I get. Planning on taking one of my old acoustics out on a road trip this year on the bike. Anyone ever do it?

Is it a foldable?

Steel is Real when talking old road trippers. Is it steel? I've heard of playing steel guitar, but never acoustic steel guitar???

But I like the idea of your hydration solution!

edit: not too much guitar talk - or we might get a new sub-Forum, 'Strummers and Hummers'. But in this low-volume Pub, probably safe.

I suggest we add a performing stage in this Pub51 for your favourite YouTube performances - call it "Entertainment for the Pub".

What's better for the Pub's business than a drunk in the bar? Two drunks in a bar.
Foster Brooks and Dean Martin

(it's just over 3 minutes long)

Any suggestions for Pub musical talent?

Kneedeep

KNEEDEEP, usually has a negative connotation.
Likely comes from a derivation of - "up to his knees in the slop". Or something more repugnant than slop, but still 4 letters starting with S.
Maybe an expression coming from our farmer predecessors.

But as a rebel Pub member, i think we should reconsider our pre-conceptions.

I hereby submit a positive picture of Kneedeep.
Location = trailside, central Cascades, Washington state. What a blast.
Definately paid the local barkeep a visit - Mac&Jack, no pic.
Apologies for lack of cycling content, other than the two activities are complementary from a muscle development and muscle memory perspective. And with some hiking helps keep me outdoors regularly and cardio-vascularly year-round.
