Young people = 20 - early 30 somethings, in a big group, will keep you young.

I luv pics and would post, but have reservations about putting images of people IDK. Visualize a large open kitchen & great room, with young folks and old man in apron in back corner. Without much adornment, no staging, the 'thanksgiving' simply shines.

You would think a mentally poorly old man with issues would feel ill at ease in such a group but, somehow it worked .....about 20 folks, who mostly did not know but a few others. Several nationalities and colors and languages.

A good boost. So while we are in the Pub, with adult supervision, Make Mine a Double.

1st snow of the year yesterday. I shoveled my walks x 3 but got the snow blower out to do the neighbors.

I would claim that the snow has ended my biking season. I would, of course, be lying as I pretty much shut the riding down a month ago. It was a pretty good year mileage wise. My legs ,however, have proved to be extremely resentful of the years effort. I'm planning to take 2-3 months off of the bike completely or at least til the weather sweetens once again. For exercise I'm walking more and I will give some consideration to cleaning the house. That, at least, should keep me busy for awhile!

On the upside it was fun to watch the Packer game being played in the snow.

Now we're talking FOOTBALL!

Today I was in a Pub - with a view.

I know that addiction is a real thing, but I smoked cigars for about 2-3 years in the late eighties/early nineties, and I've been smoking about 300-400 per year for the last ten, but I've also gone weeks or even months without smoking. Just recently, in fact: I don't think I smoked a single cigar the first two weeks of December.

And, moreover, in the year 2010, I only smoked 3 cigars total.

I'm not saying you're wrong, of course, but I don't think it's possible for me to get addicted to them. And I would be surprised to learn that I was that unique in that regard.

Awesome. That looks as close to heaven as you can get on Earth. Drinking in a pub of an old school ski resort. Yea, baby.

It's raining like all get out hereabouts for the next 10 days, but that means it's gonna be snowing pretty good in the Sierra for the next 10 days. I gotta go.

Pubs been closed for about a week so I thought I'd open the door and let some air in. Love the pics of the slopes, beautiful, I'm jealous. I know this might not appeal to the home brewers but for those of you who get your suds of the shelf I'll suggest Sam Adams latest (in my neck of the woods anyway) variety pack "Brunited". A case of six different great tasting selections, well five because it includes their plain old Sams Boston Lager. No foo-foo stuff, not a bad one in the bunch.

edit: 9" of heavy & wet broke tree branches, etc. Rather unusual, at least for the last 5-6 years.

Stationary outside trainer bike!

This is my favored winter outside exercise machine(s), definitely NOT stationary.

Our skiing is just about done for the season.

Wildwood, This pic, your pic of a pub with a view, and you mentioning you were "ski patrol" are on my Walter Middy list. I skied as a kid with a passion and have been lucky enough to ski in Europe but it's been awhile.

Not sure if they ever get emptied, maybe some peoples will or do. I know in my case, as long as I'm kick'in, once I check one off I'll just add another.

When cold and snow, that's great for passing time. Down here in FL. it was 120 miles last Tuesday, 125 miles last Thursday and 140 miles last Saturday. I have no riding until Saturday due to prostate cancer blood work this Friday so at 12:01 Saturday AM it will be out the door and on the road for 150 miles.

As much as i like riding and wrenching bicycles, i need a break and the diversification of outdoor activities. Can you believe it, i have actually chosen a long hike in the mountains on a perfectly good cycling day. Need more kayak time, too.

Just last listened once again to "The Man Who Planted Trees" written by Jean Giono. It makes a nice respite from listening to the news.

I sat and read all the words in one of our 'coffee table picture books' that I hadn't read. Jan Heine's 'History of the Competition Bicycle'. It was better than news. I should read more.

Proud of my green thumb. I can grow a nice moss lawn in the PacificMoistWest in Spring. YeeHaa!
