Whoa! A spider just crawled under my keyboard!

It's OK. It's under control.

I got challenged on my age in the pub a couple days ago. The guy didn't believe I was 50. That was pretty cool.

Wow... so many pages in and I just found this thread? Dang. I've been working too hard lately. Time for a bike ride.

I'm officially old, I'll admit it, but I just don't get the whole "pants falling off" style.

http://officialmagicpg.com/wp-conten...pants-down.jpg

Some guy forgot his belt so his pants fell down and he somehow managed to convince a lot of people that this was stylish. :wtf:

Doohickie 03-19-13 11:24 PM

Actually, it derives from the fact that prisoners don't get belts so they can't commit suicide by hanging. So they're pants sag. Then when they get out, they continue with that "style." Then the kids who've never been to prison started wearing their pants that way because it was "cool." Some of the elaborately pin their pants in place with safety pins to maximize the sag.

The other contributor to the look are skateboarders who like a low crotch to keep the board from whackin' the jewels when they kick the board up.

I prefer my Levi 501's to keep me girded in a denim shield!

What kind of bike is in the picture? Bike friendly brew pub with pizza,I don't think I'd lose any weight down there.

Hey mods, would it be OK to rename this thread the "Pie, pipe and slippers" thread?

The pipe and slippers part conjures up this image.

Just wanted to say SORRY for all the bad weather, where ever you are! It's our fault, we've been "car free" for 6 years and in a fit of maddness we bought a "motorcycle"!! The weather went down hill instantly! :notamused: again sorry, have a most excellent day! ;)

Yikes! Doesn't his name come up frequently in that old parlor game, "Dead or Alive", where someone mentions a name of a celebrity of the past,
and the rest of the people in the room try to guess if the person is alive, or below ground. I'll bet he's never, ever ridden a fixed gear. :innocent:

I think "Pub 51" works just fine. "Club 33" was already taken by someone, can't think of who. ;) (blatant reference to the Disney thread over in Foo)

This is the pub where I hang out joining a few other regulars in the morning for the newspaper, crosswords, coffe and tales of a well spent (or is that misspent youth?)

Daspydyr 03-26-13 09:23 AM

When I was 20 I thought Hugh Hefner was everything I wanted to be. Now at 50+ I see how gullible I was! :trainwreck:

Coffee? In a pub? Go wash your mouth out with soapy water.

Oddly enough they make really good, strong coffeee. It keeps me awake all night long and truth be told (and I've been known to tell the truth on occasion), I don't drink. Christmas eve 1969, Ft. Bragg N.C. I drank a qt of "old Grandad's" whiskey in 30 mins.. What do you know at 19! T'was not a pretty thing, fortunate that the pictures have been destroyed!:p I've not had a drink since that personal "Day of Infamy".

He recently celebrated his 76th birthday! He's on wife #4 now, who surrenders 50 years to him. I would imagine that, with the pills that are available now, his gear is nearly permanently fixed.

If he didn't have all that money, society would generally regard him as:

-A dirty old man, who needs to be locked up.

-An old, disgusting pervert, who needs to be locked up.

-Just some creep, who needs to be locked up.

Am I right?

Quit talking bad about me! Oh wait you can't mean me-Im not rich.:)

trackhub 03-31-13 08:44 AM

Hmmm, Ok, enough about Mr. Hefner. It's unlikely that we, as cyclists, will ever get invited to his parties anyway. :innocent:

So, it's Easter sunday. What's everyone up to? Still jacket and heavy tights weather around here. I got a sneaky suspicion that we will have
a "traditional spring" in New England this year. This is to say that it will feel like winter, probably until the first week in June. Then, the temp
will soar into the 80s. In other words, no we'll skip spring, and head right into summer.

Shamrock 03-31-13 09:11 AM

20 of us eating a brunch at a restaurant..The females in the family all refuse to cook on Easter.I think they are unionized.

CraigB 03-31-13 09:35 AM

Are the males unable to cook?

loneviking61 04-01-13 02:09 AM

Ah yes, Easter. Wifey and I trying out the empty nest thing. Two adult daughters, and a fifteen year old son visiting one of the daughters far away from home. I sure could get used to the house with just the wife and me. So nice and peaceful....
