That's from the Palos Verdes Peninsula ... great views, and right in my back yard. I commute along the beach in the background to work most days. Here's a pix from the other side of the peninsula ... a spot known locally as "the switchbacks." They're short but fun.

Bikes: Bikes??? Thought this was social media?!?

I got out yesterday for the first ride in nearly a month. Not exactly Southern California views......

Even in full sun the snow persists

Black ice got me to stop a walk a bit

Did I hear that high rainfall in deserts this winter might yield Spring flowering better than normal. Maybe only parts of CA & NV.

Thanks.

Yep, it's looking better for spring flowers than last year. The snowfall really helps too.

MUP/MUT in Gulf State Park (Alabama) - Converted from a road when deemed too dangerous for cars and bikes to share. Left paint in place and removed enough asphalt to make it clear no longer a road. Plus gates, signs, bollards. Lots of other trails in the park, too.

Tammany Trace in Louisiana. Very nice rail trail north of Lake Pontchartrain.

I appreciate the concept of this trail but have to wonder if the designers weren't trying to discourage cyclists from riding here.

Nothing beyond the fact that it is a paved surface makes this suitable for cyclists.

I found it just a bit disconcerting to ride on.

I think it's sort of funny. At least they were trying!

Stopped at a Little Free Library along the way. Out in the country, it still had a very eclectic selection of books. I found one to borrow...

High Bridge Trail, near Farmville, Virginia

Got a nice picture ready to submit with friends and bikes near the end of a few hot and humid hours on the High Bridge Trail in Virginia, summer 2018. But too bad, cannot submit photo, because rules say no pics until you've posted at least ten messages, and I've only done seven. Well, now eight. But that's it for now.

I don't know. I think I might enjoy the zig-zagging if I wasn't in a hurry to get somewhere.

Yes, trying to kill us. The trail is a hazard to cyclists.

I don't mean to turn this into an advocacy rant thread but thinks like this make me cringe. I called the DOT for this monstrosity in my area. They have not fixed it yet. I'm about to get some paint and redo it myself.

No, not hazardous for the cycling, walking, running done in Gulf State Park. Easier to maneuver on that short stretch than on some of the long wooden bridges over the many marshy/swampy areas of the park. The trails are strictly for recreation, not transportation. Very few places in the park where there is car/bike interaction.
The intersection shown in your area is potentially more dangerous for cyclists because of presence of motor traffic.

These pics along the PCH prompt me to ask if there are "Ice Plants" there? I don't know the correct botanical name. When I was drafted in '66, I would have gone to Fort Leonard Wood or Fort Polk for basic, but at the time those were full up. Instead I was shipped to Fort Ord and since it was winter, it was one of the few good things to happen to me in the army. Had a DI that would scream at us to not step on his ice plants.
