Dry most of the year and a trickle in a typical rainy season, Tres Pinos Creek is impressive.

There is a bike path across the top of this dam, about 2 miles long. It connects two very different areas and has access to a network of trails and dirt roads, some of which are now under water.

Not sure why but I find shots of fence lines interesting. It’s about as green as you’ll ever see right now. The upside of all that rain.

Rode my bike to South Mountain Sunday.

Threw my chain right down there.

The chain was missing a link or two. Of course no chain tool. Walked back a mile to the San Juan Parking Lot. From there it was downhill to Scorpion Gulch. Coasting without pedaling was slower than I thought it would be. Faster than walking.

Called my brother and arranged for him to pick me up there. While waiting I played with the Cactus Wrens.

I live near East Peoria, the original home of Caterpillar and these are still made there. It's one of the big D series. It looks like it has a ripper attachment but I really have no idea. I was a highway engineer and never saw one on a project so I'm guessing a bout the ripper part.
we supplied components to a nearby company in the industrial park that was building equipment to produce / machine the castings for the Cat Diesel engine blocks
amazing stuff

View from John Smith Rd.

Interesting plaque that is behind the Paicines general store. I suspect not too many people have seen it.

Bikes: Indeed!
I spent a few days last week at Pinnacles National Park in Ogsarg's part of the world. Some hiking, some riding.

The outhouse atop North Chalone Peak has a world class view.

A Beautiful loop on Old Hernandez Road required fording a stream where the road is washed out and slogging through mud where mudslides have covered part of the road.
