I've been doing dispersed camping in my Hyundai Santa Fe's for many years - recently got a newer AWD version - the earlier 2 were front wheel drv and did well enough in heavy snow at Mammoth and Tahoe... Last 4 years I've been using a Rightline Gear Tent as a 'Living Room'.... sleep in the car. It's self-standing, so you can unhook, leave it up, if you need to use the SUV...

...haven't used it in conjunction with a cycling trip... but would work if I took my hitch rack off, before setting up the tent...

First ride to "trail-test" my upgraded Dual Sport. Now a tubeless setup with 2.25" wide Racing Ray/Ralph XC tires, and Deore M5100 11-speed drivetrain with XT shifter.

So light, fast and nimble... a much better setup now for trail riding and it still rides smooth, fast, and quietly on pavement. This has become my favorite, most fun-to-ride bike.

rsbob I know your photo only catches 0.00001 % of the awe of riding with that amazing mountain in front of you. Very cool.

For fun, I want to share photos from maintenance stuff. I really only ride road bike about 10% but I love having so many options nearby.

Below is after a quick clean/lube tonight.

This is my 2005 Lemond Sarthe. 100% stock. This is my first road bike (only road bike...I am typically a dirt riding MTBer) Tonight, as the Sun set, I wanted to go for a ride. But a bit chilly, so instead I prepped my bike for more trainer rides [88th in my list of priorities] But I got out the chain cleaner, rare for the Sarthe. So now a clean drivetrain. FWIW I rode the Sarthe on a local ride and reminded me how it is so fast and smooth.

great stop near the Moraine state park bike trail

the Slippery Rock gorge trail is part of the 4800 mile North Country trail that passes through 8 states and stretches from North Dakota to Vermont

the grist mill and covered bridge were built the the 1800’s

the ‘hidden river’ just off the Moraine state park bike trail

spotted beavers at a dammed beaver pond on the way out - and on the return trip appears Bigfoot was watching … but no Easter Bunny

Former Santa Cruz resident and absolutely agree. Used to scuba dive in Monterrey Bay.
