^ Yum. Looks like my favorite kind of restaurant ... I mean ... besides being one with food. I love local coffeeshops.

The Commodore

Bacon and eggs with hash browns and unlimited coffee usually runs around $6.00 per person here... and it is a really good breakfast with awesome service too.

I am there enough that they know to make me the usual.

That's an amazing breakfast for the price. I paid $3 the other morning just for a coffee.

Kinda does, eh?

While I was waiting, another group whizzed down the other way ... got some nice action shots.

No riding for me cuz of the hernia surgery. And I'm now at that dangerous no-pain phase where I'm likely to overdo it. It was a beautiful day, so I took a drive in the Subie. Even with a fun car to drive, it's only about 1/10 as fun as it is on a bike. Anyway, I got a pix of our local "switchbacks."

Wish you well with the hernia. I had two done at once (inguinal) and it was not fun at all.

Great pics, Hermes. I have ridden up Mt Lemmon once, hope to again.

What a great climb and a loooong descent. I've only done it once, but it was great!

I agree, Biker395. Our club did the climb in early September. you could feel it getting warmer as you descended.

Here is a compilation of pics put together for us by the Cycling House from the Tucson Camp - Great time, people, country, terrain and riding. It is mostly of the riders but has some cool shots of the desert.

There is a rock almost identical to that, with the trees, right turn and everything, on Hwy 221 near Grandfather Mountain. I'll have to get a picture of it so we can compare.

Those rollers are a real hoot on El Tour de Tucson...especially drafting a tandem. Did you go all the way up to the Ski Slope or turn around at the viewing area.....seems like they called that Windy Point or something like that. My wife and I will be out there later this month with the idea of looking for a place to call home for several months a year.

One from last year. This was at the beginning of a planned 400 mile ride around Palos Verdes ... by taking 19 laps around the peninsula. It was ridiculously hot and humid (as evidenced by the clouds), and oh did I suffer. I managed about 250 miles before my better sense took over.

We enjoyed most of the riding in Tucson except there were some roads where the pavement was not very good. The climb up Mount Lemmon was smooth and we did not have much wind. We stopped at the first "summit" at mile 21 where the road descends and then climbs to the Ski Slope.

I was the oldest in this gang but someone has to be and it might as well be me. The staff cooked all of our meals and the food was amazingly healthy and they did special diets for individuals which was really good for me since I have food allergies. We are friends with one of the campers and we met a couple of others at Masters Road Nationals last year in Bend, OR so we wanted to do the camp with this group. The men from New Jersey were a blast to cycle with and were using it as a launching pad for their racing season. The Cycling House does a superb job of running and organizing the camp. We are definitely doing another camp with them next year.
