Never mind the 30 or so Harley Davidson's parked on the street out front, these are the bikes that caught my eye!

I didn't know there was a trial, but FWIW, I am very happy with the Record Ergo levers and front and rear derailleurs on this bike.

A guy soliciting funds for a local homeless shelter came by my house the other day claiming he was Otis's nephew. I thought that was really sad but also kind of a cool brush with fame. We didn't discuss bikes.

As much as I like your bike - that lunch looks pretty good! Why aren't there any places to stop like this along any of my rides?

It's been a while since I carted my camera along on my ride, so I took it along yesterday to take some pics at the Great Rivers Research Center building near the Confluence Trail. Click on the link under the pic to see the full size version. Some of the detail gets lost in the downsizing..

My favorite, I think, from the roof of the G. R. R. C. building. Light and shadow on the Mississippi.

Here's some more light and shadow on the riverbank. Melvin Price Lock and Dam, Clarke Bridge, and Alton IL in the background.
CRW_0770 by David Bierbaum, on Flickr

Does anyone know what this plant is? The delicate red stems caught my eye.
CRW_0775 by David Bierbaum, on Flickr

The G. R. R. C. front yard is basically a prairie and wetlands exhibit.

Had to get my bike in here somewhere! The G. R. R. C. building.

Finally, looking downriver at all the barge traffic...

Someone painted the tunnels at an underpass we ride through regularly. I don't know who, but it sure brightens the place up.

^ Nice!

The Eastern Sierra Double was last weekend. It was on the windy side, but still beautiful. Here we are riding up to Black Divide for a sweet descent down to Benton Hot Springs:

^ Amazing photos as always. Looks like a fun stretch of road to ride - minus the wind.

Thanks for the taste from God's country. Lord willing, I'm riding Trek 100 Saturday and then the Coulee Region Sunday with some old time friends. I can hardly wait.

Let us know how the east ramp goes. For my money, the climb was as sustained steep as any in recent memory. There was no relief until the top. Then again, climbing the unknown is always more of an adventure.

in any event, have a great ride!

I realize there are some parts of the country that haven't been getting enough rain, but here on the southern plains I'm sick of it. When it lets up long enough to get out and ride (like this morning -- light drizzle), this is what I find. Half the roads I ride on are washed out!

Wow... What scenery! ^

Or in my flat-lander case, what anaerobic-near-death-experience-inducing scenery.

Nice!
