Re: returning to cycling/More Pictures

So.... Went to Micheal's Shop today and he helped me with my head set that would not seating correctly. We traded some parts that were not right for my Frejus frame, so hokes pokes and bamm, we nail the installation of the head set. Adjuster the rear derailleur, prepared the introduction of the Gran-Prix Rare Stem, and some final adjustments to the front derailleur. Had a Brook's Saddle on a steel frame Frejus and added it to this frame. Went through a lot to get a 7mm hex wrench and some springs for the skewers. Thanks for looking...

Philo NY

Hi All

My name is Philo from NY. I used to ride a lot in my younger days back in 69. I started riding at the age of 5 yrs old, and owned a couple of Schwinn bicycles in East Harlem New York. That's where I met a very special person, a racing intusist and bike store owner named Tommy Avenia, he lived on 119th Street and Pleasant Ave. He and his brother would fix our bikes for pennies on a dollar sometimes. Those were the days. Anyway, now I'm 62 and my love for a certain bicycle returned when I saw a Frejus that looks just like the one that was stolen many years ago. So, I started looking around and I decided to collect and rebuild vintage bikes. The first one I bought is a Columbus steel frame Frejus, then a 1971/531 Frejus, and the top of the line model... The Super Corsa which I owned back in 1967-68. Enjoy the pics. I"ll keep editing and adding more pics and stories.

Phil

Phil,
Very nice project frame, that will be very nice. You should post some pictures and your narrative in the Classic and Vintage Forum so the guys and gals there can enjoy that one with us, too.

It's the original paint. What's more ironic is that the person who sold it to me, used to be on Tommy Avenia's racing team. He had bought this bike from him in 69-70. What are the chances of that! Since this is the same frame that I used to own, I was going to re paint the frame the same Champaign Colour Scheme their racing team used. But, I already have one in that colour scheme shown in the picture. The white and red scheme is very rare. I've seen them in other colours, but not like this one... Thanks for your interest...

Keep riding. While genes probably have a lot to do with it, I ride a lot and am in far better shape than my friends.

Up Date: Here are some progressive pictures, as I have mounted the wheels and other components. I got chills when I saw her from behind, because she reminds of the first Frejus, just a different colour scheme, champaign that is... Enjoy the pics...

Very nice bike! Like you, I started back on the sixties and seventies and rediscovered cycling again later in life.

I'm also spending more and more time riding vintage bikes. I enjoy the esthetics and the ride quality. I also like riding on something that has stood the test of time and is different from the trendy bikes produced today.

As others have said, post the details and pictures over at the Classic & Vintage forum.
