Age, Height, Weight,
I wish folks would include those stats when they post about their performance on the bike.
I'll read about a solo 75 miles at 19 mph with killer climbs and the guy turns out to be 25 years old 5'11" 150 pounds Me? 67 years old 5'10" 186 pounds Last charity ride with 2 tough climbs 50 miles 13.8 mph Probably middle of the pack? |
I always find this stuff interesting.
Me: 67 years old 5'9" 190 lbs. Last club ride (last Saturday) 50.5 mi. w/3800 ft. elevation at 14.8 mph and finished at the front (with 2 others) out of a group of 12 with the youngest being mid-40's and me the oldest by 10 yrs. FWIW no one was "racing." |
Age, and fitness play a big part but equipment is also a leading factor. Me: 53, 5'8" 185lbs, I get passed by older people with lighter bikes. I then hop on my road bike and turn into the roadrunner.
|
53 yo, 5'10", 170 lbs. 5 hours 30 +/- 15 mins for a typical century. Stopped racing at 32 but still do club and lbs group rides.
|
Im 75, weigh 175 and am a little over 5'9". I am not out to impress anyone any more. Starting this time of year after about 1000 miles under my belt, on flat ground with little wind I cruise in the 14 to 15mph range.
BTW down hill with the wind I am a terror!!!!:) |
As for ride stats: not that fast, faster than most, that's the most I'm likely to divulge :)
I am 54, 5'10", 145 pounds, fitter than I used to be but not as fit as I could have been. Cycling has been sort of a come-back for me - to my mind that's more significant than measurable physical stats. |
2003-48 5'10" 305#
2013-58 5'9" 214# and gettin' fast WOOPIE! Two years ago this hill was a goal achieved. http://app.strava.com/segments/580916 . I had ridden it regularly in High School, then got mostly off the bike and got fat. Now it seems that just about every time I ride it is a new PR. |
Ok, I'll bite.
Age: 59.9 (60 in Sept) Weight, usually around 180-184 pounds Height, used to be 6'1" but we'll say 6'0" for now And for my latest escapade on a bike, see this link. http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...B250?highlight |
49 5' 11" 230#
On chrome-moly road bike with a CF fork (bike weighs about 22#) I averaged 15.9 mph last weekend on a 43-mile organized ride through hilly territory in lakes country. Lots of 3-5% grade rolling hills and a couple short 8+% grades. Virtually no wind. My last club ride was just short of 25 miles on dead flat ground with light breeze and I averaged 15.7 mph which included a few miles through city traffic. |
Age: 62 in four weeks
Weight: currently 215 lbs. - 97.5 kg Height 6"3" - 190.5 cm I'm happy if I conclude a ride with an average speed of 15mph. Up until this year, that was no problem. This year, it is difficult to attain that. Must be lack of conditioning. My motivation to ride is just not there this summer. |

That rocks! :thumb: I'm 55ish, 5'9" and about 160 pounds. I'm strong, but not fast. Commute 35 mi/day and typically do a weekend ride of 80 miles and 8000 feet. Lots of double centuries and an occasional ultra distance event. |
6", 60yo, & currently 216. With a 46" chest and 26" pit to pit all aero efforts and slammed stems are pretty much a waste of time with me, I'm like a sail in the wind at 20mph & burn watts like crazy, at 30mph I suspect I would rotate and start flying. I am a terror in spin class though.

Short, fat and slow. Average moving speed 8 MPH. Average distance of ride: 2 blocks, until I get really tired first.
|
5'6"- 142 lbs and 66.
Prefer hills to flat rides but admit I am slow up them. When gravity takes over though- despite my low weight- There are not many that stay with me. But average speed on rides is not something I go by. Last ride and at the midway point of 13 miles I had done 1,450 ft of climbing and average of 14.1 mph. Home and another 2,000ft of climbing and total of 29 miles and I was 11.9 average. I look at a ride and "Did I enjoy it"? Not many occasions when I answer no. |
6' 3/4", 170 lbs +/- depending on hydration, 54 yrs old in August.
Performance? Short rides faster, long rides slower proportionally. I try to be fully expended at the conclusion of the ride. |
51. 6'1" 188 lbs (pretty fit weight for me) at this current point of the year.
No longer fast either but deceptively strong/powerful on very tough hills. Ride twice a wk. Hard ride (for me) 35-50 miles Saturdays over hilly terrain, 14.0 - 15.2 avg; easy ride Sundays, 30-35 miles, 13.5 - 14.0 avg. Half my rides solo; other half with 1 - 5 other former racers from the 1980s/1990s in the 50+ crew. |
5' 8", 150#, 58 yo, don't usually keep track of miles or speeds, but I did ride a century a couple weeks ago on my fixed gear bike.

CC-your weight loss is AWESOME, congratulations
63, 5' 8", 136lbs, new Giant Propel SL3 has made a world of difference. Ironman 70.3 FL. in Haines City 2 months ago. After 1.2 mile swim managed a 2:44:18 for the 56 mile TT since there is no drafting allowed and I made sure I didn't draft. Average was 20.45mph but not much elevation change although windy. Going to San Antonio, Fl. with some guys this weekend for 60 miler and 3,000' climbing, so I am told. Preparing for Ironman Fl. in November at Panama City Beach and wanting to average 20+ for the 112 miles after 2.4 mile swim. BTW-great idea having stats put to a poster |
Some really impressive accomplishments here. Nice.
|
59 years old, 223 lbs this morning, 6'3". Average 13.5 to 16 mph depending on wind, mileage and climbing. The further I go the slower I go. But I can go downhill with a tailwind for short distances really well.

Age: 63
Height: 5' 9" Weight: 155 lbs. Faster than some, slower than Biker395. Commute by bike Mon./Wed./Fri. Do club rides Tues./Thur. evenings; ride road bike in the mountains on Sat. and sometimes Sun. Or . . . I'll ride recovery on Sun. on my fixed gear bike. Only 3 double centuries so far this year; maybe one or two still to ride in 2013. Rick / OCRR |
66 yo (67 in October) @ 145 pounds and 5'7" tall. My preferred type of riding is endurance and distance but I like to mix speed into the rides as well. I ride between 30 and 44 miles/day often doing 60-66 mile rides on the weekend. I don't dwell too much on average speed because the daily ride route I do forces me to drop into speeds as low as 12 mph for a few miles. However, on the loop, I can keep a 18-21 mph average speed when I want to. I also belong to a cycling team and we average 10-12 charity rides a year, mostly 100K and century rides. Last charity ride was this years MS 150 in April.

59.9, 5' 11", 157 lbs
Ideally, one could put these numbers in his/her profile, to help others interpret postings. |
60 (still kind of weird to say that), 5'10", ~204 lbs (14.5 stone for those in the mother country).
Hardly 204 lbs of rippling muscle but I started out 8 years ago at 225 lbs of fat, came down quickly to 195 lbs and then back up over 200 as my legs grew. That's where I'm stuck today, though I kind of bounce between 200-207. I ride alone. 10-13 miles a day, 2 days a week and 20-35 miles, 1 day a week. At least, that's the goal. Doesn't always work out that way. I live in a town that's pretty lumpy north-to-south and surrounded by a 660' climb (over 2 miles) on three sides. The other side is water. Generally, I keep a good pace but, uphill, I am sloooooow and that skews my avg speed quite a bit. I have learned that my new Felt makes me 2 mph faster, on average. I used to do 11 mph now it's 13. That's pretty cool. Oh, I forgot... my last charity ride was 2 weeks ago for PARCA. 23 lumpy miles. PARCA is a local non-profit that promotes and sponsors non-institutionalized living for the developmentally disabled. |
58 5-10, 195. I can cruise on the flats solo at 15+ all day long. Hills at 4-6% slope really slow me down eventually. My ride time on the two day double century STP is ~ 14 hours though I ride 50 mile training rides in under 3 hours (solo). I'd have to train seriously hard to pull off a one day double century in under 15 hours.
