Why it's not Internet Addiction
I spend too much time on this forum, but I figure it's not Internet addiction because it causes me to ride more. That's the story I'm sticking to.
I ride more (and take pictures), then I post more, and that causes me to ride more, etc.

My take on it is that some addictions are bad for you while others (like cycling) are good for you.
Contributing to bikeforums.net isn't really an addiction for you, TromboneAl, but it does help to support your (good) cycling addiction!

Internet "addictions" are only a problem if they interfere with your life in some manner. I spend a fair amount of time skimming through RSS feeds but my PC is on a built in desk in the kitchen where I can turn my head and interact with anyone who is present. Really no different that reading a book in the living room. The same would apply to using a laptop in the family room. Some people bury their PCs in an office which may isolate them. This could predictably alienate your spouse which may rise to the level of disrupting your life.

Sorry to contradict, for me it is a bit of an addiction. I am driven by being the only member of my family who is an avid biker. It gives me what I don't get at home.

It's only an internet addiction if you find yourself sitting at the computer reading and posting for so long that you miss your window for that day's ride.
Or you forget to go to work.

I, too am a bicycling addict, proud of it, starting commuting to work this week. Co-workers think I've lost my mind. Hope they keep thinking that, may be true.
