Deserve Our Thanks
Over the past months there have been several threads about people who either have overcome serious issues or are on their way. At the same time I'm around people on an almost daily basis who either have overcome trauma or are working hard to cope with the consequences. For some of these folks they no longer have the ability to live independently due to their injuries.
These people stand out because they haven't given up. They are in contrast to a person I know who, when faced with spine trauma, chose to not fight. Instead, in his words, when he was chastising me for undergoing physical therapy: "Get a scooter like I have. That is the easy way".
But, we owe thanks to the people behind the folks on this forum. The wives, girlfriends, husbands, boyfriends and special people who support the folks here. The ones who do basic care. The ones who see that all the tasks of daily life are taken care of. The ones who hold the bike so it can be mounted. The ones who encourage and prop up when things get tough.
Thank you support people. Couldn't do it without you.

I have had so much support during my little drama that it is mind boggling. My gf (the love of my life) has been, as always, the best person anyone could have on their side. Tonight we celebrated 14 yrs. together. My closest friends who showed up to be with her and me throughout the ordeal...my cycling club comrades showed up at the hospital, came to my house and showered us with texts, e-mails and phone calls....my motorcycle buds who have constantly contacted us for updates...childhood friends from over 60 yrs. ago in NJ who are still in touch and folks on this list and a Ducati list I inhabit...this is what makes it easy to go forward. I am, by nature, a positive attitude kind of guy but even if I wasn't I wouldn't dare let all of them down.

It's good to get back to basics from time to time, life is fragile, we need to appreciate and enjoy our relationships and take the time to encourage and support others. Thanks for the reminder!
