It isn't a matter of noticing your bike and the kit, in these times the public is very touchy about exposure in any form. I'd say to check what the local laws say and use discretion at all times. Common sense isn't as common as it once was, so don't rely on that to bail you out. The police are going to err on the side of caution with this type thing (my brother is a retired deputy LT, he said it is a big time thing now,) if you are convicted of public exposure of the genitals it brings a whole truck load or grief down on you and getting a sexual offender tag on you is very, very tough to ever expunge. Don't scoff at this it has a chance of happening and a search will get you examples of arrests and the problems that accompany the legal system. You may well luck out if an officer or even a citizen sees you and you just get a warning, but you could well get your self in a world of hurt. You have to judge what you want to risk your self.

You are in Canada so I claim no knowledge of the legal system there and how things have evolved with the exposure, sexual offender status, public urination and such, so do the due diligence necessary.

Same here, keeps me going.

I should probably add that in my late 50s I tried Saw Palmetto (see Mayo Clinic site for details) and I believe it helped, for a while I even got through the night w/o a potty break and could reliable do 3 hours on a ride. Now unfortunately, deep in my 60s, it is not anywhere near as effective.

I'm 67 and 150 Pounds and seem to have the opposite problem, if it is a problem, in that I have never needed to pee on a ride, although my rides only average 2 to 3 hours. Even the occasional longer ride doesn't get interrupted.

I think it's due to the fact that I don't drink much on a ride, perhaps a quarter of a litre over 2 hours. I rarely feel thirsty and don't seem to sweat as much as my friends, even when working hard. I start out with the intention of drinking more but just never think of it, except on very hot days, which we don't get too many of in the UK.

Is the level of hydration required similar for all sizes of riders?

I was out riding a couple of weeks ago, and pulled into a small town park to use the facilities. Of course they were locked. The park was deserted, so I went around back and did what I had to do. Then it occurred to me... older guy... in a city park... furtively doing something or other.... Not a good place to have to "explain" myself to the police, or be spotted on a security camera.

...and on a bicycle...Hmmm...probably lost his driver's license in a DUI, and is now on a bender.
