Biking in London and Berlin

My wife and I are taking my daughter and her boy friend to London and Berlin in June. Anyone know anything about biking in either location? Good places to rent. Nice recreational rides?

No idea about Berlin, but I used to live in London, just on the south side of Tower Bridge.

How about London to Brighton? There are other London to rides but this is the biggie. You come back on the train.

I used to ride to play tennis/squash as it was quicker than driving and I could have a few beers. Depends on what you are trying to do.

Or try this https://www.visitlondon.com/traveller...le-hire-scheme I've seen them, but never used them. I think a Sunday would be the best day to ride, because London traffic is horrendous during the week. That combined with the fact that you ride on the left side of the road.

Great. I didn't realize that London has the same system we have in DC. We are members here and used to the bikes and the system. Left hand side is no problem we just returned from a bike tour in New Zealand.

It can sneak up on you.

I did, and in fact initially typed that, but Americans can be very sensitive, so I changed it

Bikes: Enough bikes...for today!

It's funny - I lived in London for 8 years and rode thousands of commuting miles on my bike - and I can't for the life of me picture riding on 'tother side of the road!

Yup, such as emerging from a turn, in light or no traffic, from one small undivided rural two-lane road to another. When I spent three weeks in Europe, I happily didn't touch an ignition switch. The sales reps drove us around, and the Brit was fine with driving on the left side of the road, the German was fine with driving fast, and the Frenchman and the Italian were fine with driving chaotically.
