Glad to have that out of the way...

Got chased by a pit bull this morning. Yippee!

Now I can enjoy the rest of the season not wondering when that first dog chase is going to happen.

Carry a small squeeze bottle of ammonia. Works wonders on mean dogs.

I carried ammonia when I started riding in the seventies and it was effective on rural dogs on Monroe County, IN. But, it can cause injury to the dog.
Halt! or other pepper sprays have a more transient effect.

I have nicknamed one approach to my home stretch as "Dog Hill" for a very good reason. At least they arent mean but there is a beagle that gets tight to my right foot and makes me a bit nervous.

If there are any other dogs, the growling kind in particular I'm keeping the tip on ammonia as a resource. The preferable method will be a call to Animal Control.

Riding the other day, a bug bounced of of my glasses, with a distinct 'tink!'. I knew then that the riding season had started.

Bikes: too many bikes from 1967 10s (5x2)Frejus to a Sumitomo Ti/Chorus aluminum 10s (10x2), plus one non-susp mtn bike I use as my commuter

They're not dogs. They're motivational coaches. A good fast dog does wonders for you when you're dogging (no pun) it. Fast dogs working in relays, as they seem to do in farm country can knock big chunks off your time.
