Completed My First Century

I rode my first ever century in a Bike MS event yesterday. The day was absolutely great with temperatures in the mid 70's but, the wind was kind of stiff out of the north. My teammates and I were numbers 7, 8, 9 and 10 to finish. The terrain was relatively flat but, most of the climbs were the last 50 miles against the wind. We completed the ride in 5:51moving and 7:28 overall for an average moving time of 17.2 mph. I actually felt great after the ride and could have gone for more if it had been required.

FYI - Team riding certainly helps in the motivation and overall ride (we all took turns pulling against the wind)

I set 3 personal bests yesterday:
Total Miles 100.5
Fastest 40km 20.8 mph
Most elevation gain 3,169 feet (the route was flat but, the miles gave me the elevation gain)

We were schedule to ride 55 miles this morning but, chose to ride a 35 mile recovery ride (averaged 18.7 mph) so we could get home early after being gone from home for 2 days.

Congrats on a great ride. Give yourself a big pat on the back and enjoy the rest of the fall riding.

That's a very good moving speed for anybody in a century. More so for a 50+ rider in his first.

Congratulations!!!

Well done! Like you, my first Century was also a MS ride. It turned out to be a 117 mile day though.

Excellent job on that century! Now, are you hooked and ready to register for the next one? That's usually what happens ...

I'm doing my first Metric this Saturday as well after a 26 year "hiatus". Have a great ride Saturday! I believe we'll both be reporting a successful and enjoyable ride.
