Make sure your saddle is straight. I realized recently that mine was slightly skewed and causing numbness in my left side, could probably throw off equilibrium enough to make no-hand-tarck-stands impossible if I ever tried to do them.

Could be an issue with the frame's geometry, depending on what you're used to.

gear ratio maybe? I dont understand what you mean by "wheel swings uncontrollably to whichever side i'm on"
usually once i have my cranks parallel and my bars turned one way, the wheel stays in that direction.
are you shifting back and forth alot to correct it?

What about riding no handed? Does that feel different on this bike?

What other frames have you been riding? How long have you been riding this bike for? Is the headset extra sticky or loose? If you pick up your bike into the air and tilt it from side to side, the handlebars should be able to freely move by gravity alone. If they are binding, that could be an issue.

But you would feel all this stuff 10 fold while riding no handed.

Can anyone else trackstand no handed on your bike?

EDIT: I think he is saying his wheel flops hard to one side as soon as he lets go of the bars. You might just need more practice because some of the best trackstanders I have seen have been on pista concepts, and I am pretty sure those have the same geo as the 2004 pista. There shouldn't be anything geometry wise that is holding you back.

Ive had a few frames with slightly different head tube angles/fork rake and it made a pretty big difference trying to ride with no hands if you're used to your previous frame geo.

@Jacks - When I let go, my front wheel just turns all the way. Never happens to me on my friends bikes.
@Nagrom_ - Actually? I need evidence for that one.
@Diff - No handed is fine. Everything is like a normal bike until I come to a stop and take my hands off. None of my friends know how to except for one who's way too tall for my bike. He rides a 61 and has the seat a foot from his TT.

Somewhat slack headtube on them bikes makes bars floppy @ zero mph no-hands. The longer your stem the worse it is.

@Lester - My stem is pretty damn long. Riding bullhorns now so there's two reasons to get a shorter stem!

You should have an Excalibur-type contest where you test if anyone can track stand on your bike. In all seriousness though, you're probably not gonna find your answers unless you start switching up parts. Start with the fork, bearings, stem, and bars from another bike. It'll get you closer to pinpointing the problem. Who knows, maybe someone hid their weed in one of the bar ends and it's offsetting the weight. Mmmm.. free weed.

Which circus has "no-handed" track stands?
When I do "no-handed" track stands, I use my massive **** to hold the handlebars steady while I release my hands. A track stand coach can show you how to safely do this, provided you have the equipment.

If that were true then his equilibrium must only be affected by certain bikes because OP stated he could do it on other models.
