BBC Brompton Documentary on iPlayer
If you're in the UK, or know a bit about IP spoofing then I'd recommend this 'At the Bicycle Factory' documentary that aired a few days ago - lots of Brompton love to be had:
BBC iPlayer - Inside the Factory - Series 2: 4. Bicycles

From: Carlisle, in England's Lake District, just a few miles south of the border with Scotland.
Bikes: A Bianchi C2C road bike, a steel framed touring bike and a Xootr Swift folder which has made the rest redundant!
A nice idea totally spoiled by the manic, ego-centric presenters.

but, make no mistake, it's a game of cards in which all the players lose.
marxist critical theory is the most intellectually and spiritually bankrupt "philosophy" ever devised. it's sole purpose being the destruction of western society.

Winfried thanks for posting the link. I watched it last night. What Diode100 says sums it up quite nicely. The presenter was moronic but there was enough there to keep you interested.
A few things I wonder about:
Are the forks made in house? I would assume so but they never mentioned it and they were in the pile of bits for the presenter's bike all ready brazed.
Obviously Brompton has thought of everything but it seemed odd that bikes would be shipped out to be painted and returned. That seems like a lot of travel and human power which ultimately "costs" something. We are talking about shipping 45,000 bikes in and out of that factory, that is time consuming.
I never knew how the bike was prepared for painting and that was an eye opener. Coating the inside and outside of the tubes for corrosion resistance because the frame is open to the elements unlike a non-folder is brilliant.

I love how this thread quickly devolved into socio-political theory!
I too find the presenter moronic but thought there was enough of interest despite him to post a link.
The man no-one here seems to like was originally a market trader (the kind in the UK that shouts 'Get yer' apples 'ere - 10 for a pahhnd" at the top of their voice day-in-day out, so I think that has shaped his general presence in the world. I believe he also presents the UK version of Masterchef, though I've never seen it.
The people who worked at Brompton seemed very patient with his antics, and a thoroughly nice bunch of people overall.
After seeing it - I think it answers a lot of questions people have about why B don't innovate at any great speed - they're really small and have a formula that works so why change?
