Peugeot/Shimano folder

Last week I bought a 1970s Peugeot folder, but it has Shimano decals on it. Peugeot is stamped in the chrome of brake calipers, head and seat post. Does anyone know why Shimano rebadged a Peugeot folder in the 1970s?

The decals were probably applied over faded ones in the '80s. At that time putting component stickers on frames was a thing - especially mountain bikes - and I'm guessing the owner of this folder had a few left over.
