Got them both today, very impressed with them, very high quaity for a $150 bike, will definetely meet and exceed our needs.

Like I mentioned before, we aren't using these to commute to work or 50 mile rides, they are going to be in the boat and used to ride around the islands when in port and avoid explaining to the cops why I parked the rental car inside the police headquarters and that despite my appearences i only had two beers

Oh and they'll fit perfectly in the trunk for our drives to the keys.

Yup both are boardwalk 7 speeds in british racing green

The photo on the camping world website makes the bike look like an internal geared bike, but the Dahon website shows this bike as having a derailleur.

What typing of gearing does the camping world bike have?

I just got my Dahon 7 from Camping World a couple of weeks ago and I'm very pleased with it. I took it to Santa Cruz this last weekend and rode it all over town. And since I paid so little for it, I didn't worry about it too much when I left it locked up outside. (It folds fairly compact, but still a bit too big and heavy to lug around into stores and such.) It's not an internal geared bike. It has a derailleur. It shifts pretty well and the gearing is fine for getting up hills. I'm not too crazy about the pedals, though. I would like to get folding pedals that are SPD on one side, regular platform on the other side. Do they make pedals like that for folders?

I just found a Dahon Mariner at a local thrift store for $75. Not bad, eh. Not being in a commuter friendly city or neighborhood I feel as if I need large shoes and a red nose.

This one is in VG shape but only has one folding pedal on the drive side. I doubt I'll go as far as adding SPD's although some folding ones would be cool.

My understanding is the Mariner is for boat holds getting back to OP.

I don't think so. You would have to get the standard SPD/Platform combo and live with the additional protrusion...

IndyGal, MKS makes a separable platform pedal and clipless pedal. They are different pedals, but I believe they use the same mechanics to connect and disconnect from the bike. If you bought a pair of each, you could just decide which pedal you want for a ride and attach them. The only thing is, you would end up paying about the same price for the pedals that you paid for the whole bike. That's what has kept me from going with this set up myself,

the bike sounds like it has nice specs, anybody have one or advise against or reccomendations to the quality of a ride as measured against a higher priced bike or similar ,
