Had a Bike Friday Tikit which I sold to buy a Brompton S6L..But looking at a Dahon Curve now ..but will not sell my Brompton..What is the long term reliability like for a Dahon Curve...I can get a 3 speed ,5 speed,7/8 speed or even a few capreo equipped 9 speed about..Which should I get?

I've only done 2000 miles or so on my Dahon Mu SL, but it's issue free apart from the little plastic sleeve on the head tube that used to accept the knob on the stem to keep it folded. That sleeve broke open, causing the bars to rattle around a bit when folded. Both hinges look really good still and no creaking anywhere on mine. I think the curve will be very similar frame wise so the hinges should be as good as mine.

My 2009 Curve SL has been remarkably trouble free in the 4+ years I`ve had it. Needed new tires, new brake cables, and new shim for seatpost this year - but that`s all. Every 6 months or so the frame hinge needs to be tightened and re-greased otherwise it will creak, after that it`s whisper quiet. The Capreo has been a flawless performer and almost never needs adjustment - pretty amazing actually, considering how much use this bike gets.
